How to Clean and Upgrade Bathroom Drain Stopper or Pop Up Drain

Vanity drains are notorious for getting clogged. In this video, I’ll show you how to remove and clean, and the better alternative, how to install a new drain stopper.

This is a great DIY video. You went beyond what many KZbinrs do, to help your viewers. For example, you cut out the old drain pipe to help us see how the drain & lever work inside, you made sure this helps for two types of sinks (with & without overflow holes), and doing a professional job (thorough cleaning, using plumber's putty, using the threaded tape, ensuring to correctly orient the channel-locks, testing 3 ways at the end). All in only 10 min. First time I saw you - great video!

Great video. The only thing I would have done differently was to replace the straight white plastic pipe that connects to the new chrome drain pipe. Yours appeared to be too short with the new drain pipe. A simple bump while placing something under the sink can dislodge a too-short pipe like the one in the video. These white plastic pipes that connect the drain pipe to the p-trap are very cheap and can be easily cut down if too long, using a a hack saw. Thanks for the video and link to the product.

When I was a kid, we just had a rubber plug. Much less likely to leak and no mechanism to trap debris. We usually put a mesh filter on when not using the plug, which would stop 99% of the debris too. Why do people nowadays value appearance over function?
