I would recommend to anyone needing to clean a carb fully like this one - an ultrasonic cleaner rather than a wire brush.

Thanks mate, just about to do this on a 1987 TT225. Big help. :)

Hey thx for the video! Question - Is the carb on this bike (ttr225) the same as a TTR230?
@kevinbock60966 жыл бұрын
You don't use a steel brush on carb parts. Brass, better yet soak in carb cleaner..

Kevin Bock after studying mechanical engineering at ICUP TECH Institute, I suggest adding music, as it may distract you while you attempt to drive off a cliff

Great information and Top bike, just the back ground music is shocking and tad loud

That was much easier than I thought it would be. And I agree the music was annoying

scared lol don't be a pussie carbs are easy

With a carb so dirty you should take out the emulsion tube, which is retained in place by the main jet. Believe me the emulsion tube will be just as dirty as the float bowl and all it's holes will be clogged. To take it out you have to first take off the top plastic cover of the carb, with the vacuum membrane and slider with needle. Then you just push the emulsion tube out from the bottom.

hey i bought a 2001 ttr225 would carb and choke cleaner work just as well?
@Bengineer-K2 жыл бұрын
Most likely! You may still have to scrub components with a brush to remove tougher grime but yes that will work!
@blackfox52192 жыл бұрын
@@Bengineer-K ok thank you! wish me luck on cleaning it also are there parts on the bike that i would break if i got the whole bike wet to wash with a rag some soap and a hose?

Where does the long black hose that sits above the fuel line inlet on the front of the carb go? I have this same project bike and that hose was already disconnected.

Is there a number of turns out on that pilot jet? I just bought one of these.
@Bengineer-K5 жыл бұрын
Crazy Man’s Off-Road Toys great question! Both the main and pilot jet are screwed at the way until seated snug. You will be able to adjust the air/fuel ratio externally

I wouldn't recommend jamming a screwdriver into the carb like that. You can scrape metal which can come off into the carb or even worse.

Great video and voice over! Music (if you can call it that) was annoying, distracting, and drained my life force. Keep up the good work and consider less distracting music.

It’s gonna be the jet you have in it they should sell kits with a couples jets also if you were to add a new pipe or something like that you’ll also have to mess with it if you do that

Best and easy way to clean is just disassemble the parts drop them in gasoline[petro] leave for 1min then using a soft cloth clean the parts and assemble them back. Then thank me later

How common is it for a new carb to have the floats stuck? I swapped a new carb on my 225 and it's pouring fuel out the drain line, even tapped on it and cycled turning on the gas to no avail
@Bengineer-K4 жыл бұрын
dusty fleissner I’ve seen it before, especially with cheaper carbs, also any carb get knocked around during shipping so that may also be a factor. I would take your bowl off and check that they’re are no missing parts ie your float needle, and if everything is good then use a light oil such as wd40 to oil the pin and make sure everything moves freely. Lastly this is very uncommon but possible, the float was manufactured with a pinhole in it and thus the float will not function as it should, hope this sets you down the right path!

Jordan Holland Nope! Most carbs you'll run into don't need the floats set.
