How to clean ink collector (waste tank) in Ricoh GX e3300N

This is my ink collector after 5 years. This is easy way to clean it by yourself and save some money. It is not necessary to replace a new one...

After the cleaning process, I was prompted with an error that read "Ink collector set, replace used ink collector" on my RICOH GX e7700N. I followed the procedure that you listed within the service menus and I'm back in business. Thanks!

My printer is Ricoh SG3110DN Your instructions combined with this reset from @UCC7eoh6NY4wxuz4tzmmQaPA "press up + down Buttons together vor 10 sec., than press enter. scroll down to ENGINE MAINT., press enter, at SP NO. type 3008003 (with up and down and enter past every number), than enter again, antother enter two times (Maybe 3 times, if there is OK?) then press espape (left buttom), there should me see RST:WASTE:RC 3008003. press Botton down for RST:WASTE:RC 3008004. press enter 4 times. then press Escape 3 times. you should see again ENGINE MAINT.! press button down for END. press enter. then turn off the Printer and again on. sometimes it doesnt work at first time, so try again."

Great idea will have one in and one out already bought two of these collectors and considering the small amount of printing it does , this will be a great money saving idea . Cheers for the tip.

Hello., my SG2100N still says "replace ink collector Unit" even after cleaning the collector..., any ideal how i can bypass this? Printer won't go to maintenance too,, keeps blinking the power on button with a constant "Red" warning light. Any assistance?

If the numbers are not recognized, try change the numbers to 3008003... Worked for me on the 7100dn.

Great, thanks for showing how to clean the unit. The only thing that needs to be answered now is how to reset the percentage counter on the printer so that it shows 100% again. I tried and could not do it. So I am wondering if the circuit board on the end needs to somehow be reset. A reply would really be helpful! Thanks!

+rmus8039 For resetting you must to do this: 1) when is printer online, press the "up" and "down" buttons for 20 sec., release it and press "#" 2) the display now shows system version and service menu 3) press the "down" to Engine Maint. and confirm it with "#" 4) the display now shows SP No. 1000 5) press the "up" button to increase of first number to 5, press "#", second number 0, press "#", third number 0, press "#", and the last one 3, press "#" 6) the display now shows "RST:WASTE.RC 5003", press the "#" > "EXEC" > press "#" > "OK" press "#" 7) now is the resetting complete, you can return back by pressing the button "left" to view "SYSTEMver 1.1, service menu" 8) press "#", display shows "end" and confirm it by pressing "#" 9) Turning the printer off and on again - now is your status still 100%, but with next prints will be wane. Give me feedback if it was everything ok :)

Hi Instantmaso I've decided to resurrect my old SG3310DN which has Di-sub inks in it after a couple of yers. I did clean out my collector unit but it doesn't work! I see you seal yours and I olnly losely taped it. Does it need to be sealed?

Any tips on how to do this on a SG3110DN? I get to the engine maintenance point and I get the number 100000. Not 1000 so I cannot progress any further.

This is the step I followed Hold Up & Down arrow for 5 seconds then press enter Engine Maintinance "enter" 3008003 - Enter / Enter again RST : Waste : RC : EXEC Enter / OK Enter RST : Waste : RC : EXEC Left Arrow RST : Waste : R 3008004 / Enter / Enter / Enter Then Exit shut down printer and restart! a friendof mine gave me this printer. she bought it new but never used it. the first time I plugged it in is said the ink collector was full. I hadn't installed any drivers at this point. just checking to make sure it powered on. if I install the drivers will this message go away?

@@martinmasek9920 while waiting on your reply I attempted to install the drivers (raster drivers?). it told me that there was a print job already running and wouldn't let me install the drivers. there were no print jobs running on anything. I used task manager to see if I missed something, but nothing showed up in processes or services. so not sure what it was was referring to............ is there a way to completely reset the printer? I was unable to find a way to do that........I' m wondering if my friend had tried to use it but gave up.......she said she did register it when she bought it new, but then never used it. it says not to do anything (power on etc) before the drivers were installed. so it seems that something needs to be reset, but powering off, unplugging etc doesn't seem to work. thanks for you help. the printer is like new, but if I can't get it to work, I'll have to pursue getting something else. could you confirm the printer drivers I should be using. I see videos on power drivers, but read that the OEM drivers should be installed first........I find this very confusing.

I have an unrelated question, but am asking here since this is the closest video to my issue I can even find. Anyway, I have a Sawgrass SG400 (the newer version of this same model), and the ink cartridges are self cleaning, which does so by bleeding ink into the waste tank. I rarely use my printer, and it has managed to bleed new cartridges empty within a a few months. How do I stop this?

Hi, now I have also this new model (I use it for my sublimation prints). I am fully agree with bleeding inks but now I don’t know how to fix it. Maybe later... :)

Thank you for your response. I am going to continue to troubleshoot. I haven't found anything in the printer's menu about the head clean schedule or any other adjustments. If I find anything, I will post.

I have the same issue. I just bought $200 off ink for the refill cartridges and I rarely use this printer and after refilling the ink it seemed to have dumped the entire black refill into the collector!!! Now I have to clean it but ever 20min it will run Maintenance on the cartridge and drain some ink.... well a lot of ink.

Thanks instantmaso for the quick response. Everything worked perfectly except I found one small error in instruction #8. It said to press "#" at the very first part of the sentence, when it should have said "\/" (down arrow). I figured it out. The other thing I did not understand was instruction #9. What is the last word? I see"wane" and I don't know what you meant. Other than that, the instructions to reset the counter on the printer and now the waste toner cartridge reads 100% again. Thanks very much!!

At my printer the reset codes also didn´t worked. I resetted the chip with aluminium foil. Just make sure all 4 plates have contact with each other. like making a short circuit.

Great video! : ) I have a problem. After cleaning and gluing it back together the printer says "Used Ink Collect" (not "Full" but "Used"). It also flashes "Replace Ink Collector Unit". It's like the collector cartridge has a chip setting on it that tells the printer it's still no good ("Used"). It here a way to get the cleaned collector to be recognized as OK to use again? With my Canon printer ink cartridges I have to reset the chip.

I tried following that procedure (for a second time) and this time it booted the printer into an ink-purging procedure that made everything right again. Works like a charm! Thanks for your help! Peter

I know you want to save money witch is understandable, but please be aware of your health and in turn the ecological health. Wear gloves and do this in a bucket not the sink and dispose of the ink properly. You never know what ailments will be provided from direct contact or accidental ingestion. And as for the sink, keep in mind this water is recycled and cleaned but there is residue left over. You never know where that water will end up. Just Saying, Keep safe.
