Thanks for this video. It was so satisfying to watch it submerge in water! I did the same. I found a discontinued DE Pochette on a repurpose site and it reeked of odor and dirt. I just washed it by hand with Woolite and the water was literally black! It's drying as we speak, so we shall see. I can already see and smell the difference. Love how your bag turned out! I know a lady who buys vintage to sell in Japan.She used to do this but for the volume she buys it’s a long process.Now she puts them on zero degrees in the washing machine…….perfect every time ❤️

@@holleelifestyles2844 you should.On her last trip she bought me an LV speedy 35 £80/85?? then brought it round and over wine we did the whole process.Two or three days later when it was dry it was cleaned,for the shine really,with a specialist vinyl detergent.Apart from the darkened leather,which I personally don’t mind,it was absolutely perfect.A fraction of store price and I’m doing my bit to not buy new.❤️❤️

I have put many a leather bag in a pillow case in into the washing machine to clean them after thrifting them and they can out just fine. Hung them up in the bathroom to dry overnight, and when dry conditioned them with a leather cream conditioner and it was like getting a new bag. Getting really to do that with a red D&B doctor bag I have that is about 20 years old and dirty.

This pochette is more on canvas material, that's why I'm comfortable washing it. If you have the same bag with canvas material with Damier Azur print, I would say, as long as you're comfortable to wash it like I did. It's up to you. My pochette came out clean and perfectly. I will wash it again like this if it gets dirty.

great video, very satisfying to watch 😊 I have been there, hand washing a pre owned LV that reeked of cigarette smell and old musty odors. the water turned dark yellow to reflect how much tobacco the poor bag had absorbed. I hate bad smells! it was definitely worth the risk if it meant removing the odors than living with a bag that smelled gross. other methods like baking soda or airing it out did not work. even my own wallet I purchased new 4 years ago is starting to get musty smelling, I'm not sure if it's an old cash/coin smell or what but it's icky. =( so I am thinking of giving her a bath, as odor remedies are not doing their job. as long as it is mostly canvas and you are gentle not going ham with stain removers/chemicals, you dont have much to lose. and dont forget conditioner =)

That is definitely not recommended cleaning for a +$1000 bag. 1. Don’t use a hard brush 2. Don’t immerse in water 3. Don’t use dish soap or dish washer soap 4. Don’t dry in direct sunlight Other than that, the bag looked clean...

I'm 100% with you before I wash my pochette. I was thinking what's the purpose of a 1000 dollars bag if I can't use it because of the sticky dirt inside and the smell. I am so happy I did it and my pochette looks clean and ready to use. Thanks for your input.

For the canvas no, I used the vinyl cleaner to make it shines.

Many experts advise using something like Bickmore 4 on the canvas and vachetta. It maintains the coating on the canvas and prevents cracking. Older canvas like in this video is far more resilient than what they use now, so I would say it’s even more important on newer canvas items that won’t have the longevity. This is why I only buy preloved older canvas items. I prefer both the styles and the quality.
