I own an oracle touch, your video made my day just for the simple idea of hiding my baskets/rubber cleaning insert behind the drip tray. I’ve owned this machine for 4-5 years and never thought about that or saw it anywhere else and I swear I read the whole manual. I think this is best affordable espresso machine out there. If you don't have coffee grinder at home.

Actually if you don’t want to play with machine every time you want tasty espresso, I would go for Nespresso mini machine. I always told myself that this is not a real way of doing coffee but once I tried and realized how simple and convenient it is, I got Nespresso myself. I still use Barista but when I don’t want to spend 30+ minutes to make an espresso, I just pop one of the capsules to Nespresso machine and get an amazing tasting coffee within 30sec.

If you power on your machine, and the Hot Water/Steam light is flashing--so that you cannot make coffee, this has nothing to do with needing to clean your machine. It simply means somebody in your home has turned the HW/Steam knob prior to your Powering on your machine. You just need to turn the HW/Steam knob back to neutral and begin your coffee making process again. :-)

Hi Hoon. Thanks for your videos on the Barista Express they are very helpful. It has taken many attempts a lot of beans. I’m afraid you have turned me into a coffee snob. Lol. I keep coming back for cleaning and descaling. It’s probably wrong, I like a good Americana but strong. I use a double shot, instead of adding water I use the same grounds to fill my 20oz cup. I hope I’m not hurting the machine. Your directions give me a smooth cup of coffee every morning.

Thanks! I was confused until I saw this video because my instruction manual said that water would flow from the portafilter spouts. So I was getting worried when this didn’t happen. Sounds like Breville needs to update their manual.

Video idea for Hoon: I'm considering getting that machine myself. Some people make the grinder stepless, pretty easy to do, then hold the knob with a clip. Easily reversible. I wonder if that'd make the built in grinder good and if the taste would be that much different from the niche.

I think Cafiza is pronounced "kaf-ee-za". Urnex, the company that makes Cafiza, also makes a powder called Dezcal for descaling, and a big tub of it is not expensive and will last for years.

Another great video Hoon! I just got a barista express a couple weeks ago. I've gotten petty consistent with double non-pressurized shots, but when I try single non-pressurized baskets (even after adjusting grinds size to correct brewing pressure) I get soupy pucks every time. Any tips on this? I'm going crazy over here.

Hi Mr. Hoon ! Glad you are doing really well. So my question is the solenoid valve (it usually makes electrical buzzing noise during extraction and the pressure becomes much lower than where it should be).. I have replaced it twice in the last 7 years, and it's a little annoying to keep having to go through the cycle as if it needs that maintenance no matter how I try to keep the machine clean.
