After you got out the pressure washer, I was like "yep, buying new ones." Lol

trust me you dont need no pressure washer. been cleaning mine for 9 years now because I hate using disposables. just clean them like this and let dry and youll be fine. you dont need to get rid of the stains to have a clean gun cleaning rag

all those chemicals went down the storm drain to the local rivers, then people wonder why local river systems are dirty and there are no fish in ponds

Quiet. It's all biodegradable...

It goes to a treatment plant where everything gets processed to clean drainage. Your ecosystems are screwed from agricultural runoff.

@@evank7858 it's been proven that people flushing medications and other crap down their toilets and sinks does not get 100% cleaned. There are plenty of studies you can find on the subject, even fish have been found in some locations to contain Prozac in their systems. So no, it doesn't get 100% treated and cleaned. Edit: But yes, agricultural runoff is a much bigger problem, but both situations are problems.

@@evank7858 It is VERY rare that storm runoff is treated or even pre-treated.

I soak them in a similar fashion , ring them out, and wash soiled rags, old work clothes in the washer. Then an extra rinse to clean the washer tub out real good......done!!

Where can you dump the dirty water?
@StormcallR2 жыл бұрын
Rather just use a washboard and clean them old school. Well... for people without access or means to get a pressure washer.

I like your video effort great job and detailed. Having given that credit on an objective note is I found this video searching about the hazards of stored gun grease rags and spontaneous combustion fires because I like to store 1 or 2 clean greased rags for wiping down after handling. But all lead soiled mixed oil cleaning rags are placed in a new sandwich bag then soaked in tap water to prevent combustion then sealed and placed in the trash landfill can. I mean there is no way I can use up all my old clean cotton clothing rags to justify wasting and old FOTL underwater make the best bore rags IMO. Incidentally the sewage treatment plant was designed to remove biological toxins not chemicals and in fact kills the biological microbugs that convert nitrate to nitrogen. If you don't believe me refill your aquarium with that water you have to rise it out several times to restock. This from the old Naval saying that it only takes 1 tablespoon of fuel oil to contaminate an entire ships fresh water supply.

Too much work I rather toss it in the washer

Those rags have lead in them though. Even in small traces, lead can cause permanent brain damage especially in children. I think adults have a much higher tolerance.

EEEEK...you used Gun in your Title!!That being said, great tips!! I've always suspected since we are on a Septic system, that the oils and solvents in the "shop" rags are not great for the health of our Septic critters....even if you did it in a separate load. I've seen Manual Bucket Washers on Amazon that I was thinking of using but your way seems pretty straight forward.
