I love how they say the bleach is for "de-scaling"....it's not, it's to kill mold. They had MAJOR problems with the first gen models and mold build up. Keep a very close eye on this. Wipe out your reservoir tank with a paper towel each time...if you see ANY brownish residue on the paper towel, that's mold. Your machine will need to be completely disassembled and the upper reservoir (inside the machine) will have to be thoroughly cleaned or ideally, replaced.

Bleach does not kill mold. To get rid of mold, you first spray hydrogen peroxide to kill the mold, then follow up with bleach to clean the area. I assure this is correct after having to hire a company to come to my home the get rid of the mold in my entire attic. Along with doing a good job, they also educated me on the process.

I’ve been feeling my throat weird for a couple of weeks, I couldn’t find the souce, and then my brother in law pointed out that the tubes looked brownish…. I took the opal (first version) apart and all the tubes were full with mold… It was disgusting, I’ll make sure to clean it more regularly with bleach from now on

Only thing i would say you really missed, and the instructions owners manuel etc miss it too. If you have a side tank, you dont reconnect "HOSE B" to it until you are all done and ready to make ice. Side tank isnt cleaned this way, but instead by hand.

Do not wait for the cleaning light to come on it needs to be cleaned every couple of weeks. The tubes get gunk and mold in the hoes and water has to pass through it

The side tank has its own part that goes into the maker 😅itself. The side tank is additional so those two are just for the main part of the ice maker

Make sure your hose is flat in the back. (The hose connected to side tank). I had the same issue.

Can you describe what you mean by "flat in the back" for the tubing? I understand about how toconnect Tube B to the side tank, but not sure how to make this "flat".

After cleaning my cleaning light just blinks. When I add the fresh water and plug it back in, the cleaning just starts again and after the 3 minutes it stops and blinks again.

I see that happen when I fill it but the ice output is full then melts into the resevior making it overflow. I solved the leaking by placing a cookie sheet under the ice maker. Easier to clean and I don't worry about leaks or overflows anymore.

Make note that when you disconnect the hose from the side tank, residual water in the base of the side tank will also drain. Be ready to catch that or it will drain all over your counter.

I actually don't recommend removing the filter. If you accidentally have any larger items that get sucked in it could cause issues. I do recommend removing the bottom filter and cleaning it though then putting it back in before adding the bleach solution

@@antionneedwards6728 It's the little square plastic part that has a metal screen on it in the reservoir. You simply lift it up and it should pop off. Take a picture of it before you remove it because there's a top to it and it slants a particular way.

One tube is labeled “Tube B Side tank” This tube attaches to the side tank. He did not show him reconnecting it in this video. You don’t want the cleaning procedure to go through the side tank.

Cleaning and de scaling you keep both tubes in the plug position. If you hook it to the side tank, once you unhook it to drain, it will drain from both tubes AS WELL AS the side tank nozzle. Makes a big mess

I like how he completely avoids how to drain the extra side tank water and just pretends he doesn’t have a side tank. I’m looking for a way to drain without dumping water all over my counter. I’ve resorted to disconnecting the side tank base while it’s still on the tube, dumping that then disconnecting the tube. I’ll say this for everyone watching - THE ICE MAKER WILL NOT FULLY DRAIN WITHOUT DISCONNECTING BOTH TUBES AND DRAINING THEM. Idiotic design.
