July 6, 2019---- Thanks for the video tip. I have about 15-20K worth of aircraft slides going back to the mid 70's. 90% of them have been stored in those plastic sleeves that hold something like 30 slides each. But now, many have what I call grunge on them. With your tip, I can clean 'em and they'll look brand new. If anyone's interested, the anti stat film cleaner is available on Ebay. It's $32.95 for 4 ounces w/free shipping. I used anti stat film for my search.

What's the type of alcohol? Isopropyl perhaps?

It is Anti Stat Cleaner for film. I think it should work on the termite crumbs. I would scan slides at a base resolution of 1200 dpi. It should be sufficient for printing a good quality 4"x 6" photo. If you want to make it twice as large, scan it at twice the resolution.

That was helpful. At what resolution do you suggest you scan 35mm slides?

We scan at 1200 dpi so that you can print a good quality 4"x6" photo. If you want to be able to print it larger you will need a proportionally higher resolution.

Termites ate the cardboard of my slides and left a woody deposit on them. Will alcohol clean that off?
