Fast fwd to 2022, how are these bearings hold up? Do you think they were worth it?
@TackleJunky812 жыл бұрын
I haven't upgraded spool bearings in a while. Reels these days come with solid bearings and even better spools. Bocas are great bearings, but I don't see the point in upgrading bearings anymore.

as if your hair trimmer doesn't get enough of a work out.......hahahahaha I use a jewelry ultra sonic cleaner (saltwater reels take genuine abuse) with degreaser. You can pick a Jewelry Ultra Sonic cleaner cheap at Harbor Freight if you have one close.

Good information James. I had bought my orange seals dry....thought they all came that way. This is good information. Great tip about the shaver too!

Hey Carl, you are correct, they come dry. In this video I'm showing how you would clean them whether you oil them or just want to clean them in general. Like I said in the video the oil will help prolong the life of the bearings as well as quiet them down and keep them cool, and the bearing soak will protect and prolong the life of the bearings, and also help fill in pits and grooves. The oil and bearing soak will cause drag and slow them down a bit though. Thanks for the comment Carl.

Good video man. Is there any reason you didn't clean them with Pedro's degreaser and oil them with hot sauce? Just wondering if you found flaws in those products.
@TackleJunky8110 жыл бұрын
Thanks man!! Pedro's Orange Peal is not good on dry ceramic bearings as the ceramic is too porous. For those bearings the Boca Lightning Lube is what's recommended. For all my other bearings, I still and will always use Pedro's and Hot Sauce Oil.

Can you do that with any bearings, like the ones the bait caster comes with? Great Video.
@TackleJunky819 жыл бұрын
For stock bearings I use Oranj Peelz citrus degreaser and then rinse them in water and blow them out. Thanks for watching!
@joshanthony54289 жыл бұрын
Ok, thanks. I just didn't know what you did with them and if it would work with them.

For spool bearings the Ardent reel cleaner works well to. You can pick it up at bps.

Great video I have a idea on the vibrating part you can go to Walmart and get a sonic it's a jewelry cleaner and it vibrates and you put whatever cleaner you want in it my dad has one and uses it to clean his civil war relics I don't think there that expensive maybe $15
@BassSniperTV10 жыл бұрын
The ones at harbor freight aren't that cheap. but I do the same thing with mine. You would be surprised how much dirt and oil comes out.

What's the reason for leaving the seals on or off?
@TackleJunky8110 жыл бұрын
This will be my first time running them with the seals off, but I was talking with a guy on Facebook...Trey Harpel...and he said the Orange Seal is rubber and over time the seal will push on the bearing race, the bearings run better with the seals off. I'm going to give it a shot and see how they perform, but from what I can tell already I'm going to like them.
@Roboworm9910 жыл бұрын
Cool...just like some run their bearings dry with the seal on
@TackleJunky8110 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have a set setup that way as well. Gonna compare how they perform against each other this season.
