Well thanks for your honesty. I just gave up on buying this colour, and I am really thankfull for your video. There are many more colours to choose from. 🤗

There is actually one other option to "renew" that pair in the hard color. I used to have a customer that would buy anything Birkenstock - any color if it was able to be dyed purple. Many of the lighter colors that are so hard to maintain - if they get to the grunge color - you clean them - but if you take to a regular shoe repair guy they might be able to be dyed a darker color. Many people don't like the buckle color (browns will have copper, black and blues pewter) - changing the buckles is a horrible process - so if you do change a taupe suede into something darker remember you will still have those copper buckles. Picking a color that works well with that might be better than -let's say black- just because of the contrast. Just an idea - but maroon or something uniques - you never know. Amy

Awesome video! Sandpaper tip is new to me. Thanks!

Sandpaper is literally the first thing I grab on any suedes, oiled leathers or nubucks - it's such a universal tool because it can be used on almost every part of the shoe, it's a lifesaver when in a pinch!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm so glad I found your chennel before I took baking soda, water, and Dawn to the footbed of my Birkenstocks!! I love the step by step instructions, especially the part about trimming off the part of the sole covering that has separated from the cork! What, if anything, can be done to repair the cork bed when it first begins to crack due to water exposure? Please advise! I have a pair of thong sandals in blue/silver Nubuck Leather that are not sold anymore! I saw some, but they were made of fake leather, which I hate. ❤❤❤

Hi! How much do you charge for a cleaning like this?/do you offer this service?
@DesertBirkenstock Жыл бұрын
Hello. Yes we do a cleaning service. We will clean the uppers and reseal your cork. It costs $25.00. If you live in Las Vegas you can bring them in and they will be done in a few days. If we feel that you really need more done to them than a cleaning - or would make sense - we will recommend it. The resole and recrafts already include a cleaning as part of the service. If you don't live here, you can visit our website (www.desertbirkenstock.com/birkenstock-repairs) to get the form and information to mail in, etc. If when we do get them and we think a different repair really is needed we will call you to discuss. Thanks for watching! Amy

Hey, if part of the suadero partially damaged, it is a little darker than the rest of the sandal, it doesn’t have the same amount of “fur” the rest of the sandal has and it is a little shiner than the rest of the shoe. Is there something to do to recover it to its normal state? I think my sandal has been over exposed to liquids that’s why it happened but they are new, I got em 1 week ago. It’s nothing to serious it’s just that is darker and it kind of “reflects” the light at certain light angles when the rest of the sandal mantains its opacity.

Do you have that fancy brush that you cleaned the footbeds with for sale? Looks like it might come with the Birkenstock kit, but the four seasons look like a better cleaning option. Thanks.
@DesertBirkenstock Жыл бұрын
Yes we do. Added to our product mix - just because you asked. Please go to www.desertbirkenstock.com/product-page/suede-combo-brush and you can purchase this particular one. It is very similar to the Birkenstock kit one - but a little bigger and handle longer. I feel a little easier to use. - Amy

Thanks so much for this! Question, is it okay if the suede water repellant spray/mist gets on the bottom of the sole/shoe? I noticed it happened when you sprayed but you didn't wipe it away after spraying. I should just let it dry too?
@DesertBirkenstock4 ай бұрын
Hello. If a little gets on - it's no big deal. You just really don't want to purposefully spray the footbed. I usually recommend putting down a paper towel or something so you can really get the straps and not worry about overspray. Yep - just let it dry - no harm - no foul :) Amy

Great video! What do you like best to refresh the footbed? I purchased Birkenstock kit and didn’t have any directions. I had no idea what to do w the brush. I love that I can make my soles better and lighter then the dark ick I have! Sounds silly but why do my schools “fart” lol. Like air bubble under the foot as I walk. I assume the smooth dirt on the footbed. Where do you buy the aerosol brand?
@desertbirk Жыл бұрын
Refreshing the footbed has become more popular as they have gotten more popular. It's not necessary unless you have some kind of funk going on. The "shoe fart" is a process of your arch being at just the right contrast with the arch of the shoe. You catch air and hence the name of the sound. Sometimes loosening them one notch can relieve some of that pressure that will cause the noise. Not always but many time people are wearing their shoes way to tight and it forces this issue. - Amy

What kind of sandpaper did you used like what grade of sandpaper?
@desertbirk Жыл бұрын
Use regular old sandpaper- 220 -225 - fine or super fine. Lowes, Ace or Home Depot - can get at grocery store but HUGELY overpriced. Need a paper with enough grit - but not so coarse that it leaves marks or swipes where you worked. You may still have to go over it a little to even out finish but won't be visible after that. -Amy

Question? Just got my first pair and after a little cleaning I have gotten the stains out. But, it feels as if the suede is a little longer/could be shaven down. Just not as smooth as it was before or like the other shoe. Ex.. on one you can clearly see “BIRKENSTOCK” as to the other it is frayed out and unreadable. Any fix? Thank you!!
@desertbirk Жыл бұрын
Hello. As I understand it you are saying that after cleaning the 2 shoes look a little different. Couple options 1) clean the other shoe to match 2) if the only issue is the Birkenstock stamp - you could take some sand paper (fine/super fine) and rub down some of the nap in that area on that one shoe. If that does not do the trick you may have to take some small scissors and "shave" the area down a little so that it looks the way you want. It won't comprise the leather. If you don't want to have this happen a lot I highly recommend the Weatherguard as it will help the shoes stay cleaner. With suedes about 2/3 of your battle with cleaning is prevention. Using the Weatherguard will safeguard your shoes - please note: this doesn't repel everything forever, but (if you are going to take care of your shoes like it sounds) it will help immensely. (www.desertbirkenstock.com/product-page/weather-guard) Hope that helps. Amy

Hi! I am planning to get my first Birkenstock Bostons and I am very unsure about which material i should get. Especially suede ones scares me because of the cleaning and durability. Do you think oiled leather is more durable than suedes? I watched your oiled leather Birkenstock cleaning video too. Which one do you think easier to handle in time? Thank you for the video and I’m curious about your answers ❤
@DesertBirkenstock5 ай бұрын
Hello. Honestly, I am no fan of suede. It stretches and gets dirty very easily. The oiled leather is a full grain leather - so unless they are VERY tight, they are not going to stretch. Plus, the cleanup is generally much easier, and you can see the difference. Tobacco Oiled leather can be a hard color just because it is light. The Habana is a great dark brown and I love the Iron, it's a great neutral If you do the tobacco color - just make sure to weatherguard it really good so that it won't stain as easy. The suede Bostons - feel like slippers - for many that's the big plus, but to me the durability and "nice looking" factor in more. Thanks for the question - of course this is MY opinion. Please try to try them on somewhere before you buy. The sizes in the Boston really needs to be correct. Some people will need the narrow. It's a very un-adjustable style so you want them to be right. Thanks for watching the videos. Amy

@DesertBirkenstockАй бұрын
Hello. We do have a video for the footbed cleaning. Unfortunately, they are doing what they are supposed to do. The suede lining is designed to absorb your natural oils and sweat. That's what is making the footprint in your shoe. You can clean it but they will eventually come back. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6mxZYiZr6dol8U ) Thanks for your comment. Amy

Another first-class video from a cork connoisseur :) The only catch: the taupe suede variant is actually so popular thanks to influencers that I have been looking for the Boston clogs in that color for months and have now bought mink suede leather instead :) I think for these Birkenstock shoes your PRO tips are just as helpful :) 👣🤎🤗

Thank you so much for watching! Yes, these tips can be used on all Suede shoes, Birkenstock or otherwise. Check out this blog post we did a few weeks ago - www.desertbirkenstock.com/post/the-elusive-taupe-suede-boston There are literally NO Boston's in TAUPE OR BLACK SUEDE until MAY-JUNE of 2023!! 😵Birkenstock is completely sold and therefore independent retailers like us can't any until then either. It's absolutely INSANE! For anyone else looking for the Taupe Suede Boston's I would recommend getting in contact with your nearest Birkenstock store and asking if you can either pre-order or if they have a waiting list that you can be added to.

@@DesertBirkenstock Thank you very much for the answer and the tips - I am happy with the Bostons in mink suede and if I buy a second pair, I will think about the mocha color you recommend, as they are perhaps not so sensitive to dirt :)

@@tochnitm Exactly! The taupe suede is INCREDIBLY high maintenance - I know tons of shoe lovers who are down for the maintenance and LOTS more who just want to be comfy everyday without having to spend extra time cleaning. This is why we love options and try to carry as many as we can (within reason and accessibility/availability) - something for everyone 😉

@@DesertBirkenstock Ok, that sounds exhausting, TAUPE as a permanent TASK :) But yes, Boston are also just a dream and so you can extend the Birkenstock season. Or as I recently read: the need to maintain the living room feeling that the "Boston" conveys on the street as well :)
