I love this video. So helpful. Push the cleaning rod through the barrel but not back cause that would just put the grime back in. I can't believe I didn't think of that. Thank you sir. Best cleaning tip ever....

Just completed my first-ever field strip, cleaning and reassembly of my S&W1911. Used your video and the S&W manual together, but your video was most helpful. Had a couple tricky parts, but should be easier next time. Thank you.

Skull Crush, BTW, when I ran the bore snake through my barrel, I noticed it had brass (?) spikes, I assume to help clean the bore. It does't look like yours does. I'm assuming since I ran it through in one direction only, 3 times, from the action, that the spikes are OK? Can you please confirm? And, was 3 times enough to run the bore snake?
@SkullCrushInc
@SkullCrushInc 3 жыл бұрын
Those are just brass or bronze bristles. Similar to the ones in the bore brush.. Yes, all the bore snakes have them. There’s no specific number on how many times to run the bore snake through. 2 or 3 times is perfectly fine.

Hello! Is there any chance to get you to re upload the older 1911 cleaning video you had up, with the blue grip 1911? I've been trying to find it for a while, it's the one I would always use for cleaning my 1911... I appreciate this one, but always followed the other. Thank you!

This was an excellent and informative training! One wrinkle I ran into: my 1911 has a full length guide rod which made it harder to reassemble in the order you described. Specifically, the barrel bushing won't rotate back into place unless I put the recoil spring plug in place beforehand. Any harm done if I have the spring under tension before the bushing is secured? Thanks again!

Is it ok to get clp on the trigger? Was cleaning the feeding ramp and basically some clp creeped down to the trigger to where I see a bit of it coming out of the trigger. Is it just not a big deal or should I let it dry first? Sorry if it seems like a stupid question

Just wipe off whatever excess CLP you can see. It's not going to hurt anything.

😶😯😮😁This weapon... 🍆... Looks so tactically fit. First thing I 🤔 think about before buying a weapon is 1) can it fit in my holster (new holster 💰) or 2) can I slide a light on it. Barrel Bushing wrench. Dude you fucking rock. Didn't know that even existed. Your update led me here. I appreciate the link and time gone into this. You know when people are like .45 or 9mm...🤔💭 .45🏋️ or 9mm🏃....45. 💥 or 9mm Pew....45.📏 or 9mm📐 ...ya start thinking how far the round will go vs power. Okay both.

Hey anyone else get stuck for a second at this part when youre getting the slide stop back in? i noticed something towards the rear of the gun was preventing my slide from sliding all the way back to get it aligned, i pressed it in and it slid back into postion perfectly. Not sure what it was sorry but after i got it all back together i did a function check and everything checks out just fine.
@SkullCrushInc
@SkullCrushInc 2 жыл бұрын
Recoil spring was probably slightly out alignment as you were reassembling.
@edrah08
@edrah08 2 жыл бұрын
@@SkullCrushInc thanks for the reply. I'll probably take it apart again in a little bit to see if I have the same issue. I reassembled it slightly different than you, I put the spring in towards the end so I didn't have to worry about it flopping about cause that was getting on my nerves lol.

Skull Crush, one more question. I notice the Lucas oil you link to, you refer to as "Lucas CLP", but the product simply reads, "Gun Oil". Is it truly a CLP (clean lubricate protect), or does it only lubricate? Lucas does make a product that they label "CLP", that I've bought since field stripping, and cleaning/lubing my 1911 with the product you linked to. Do you feel it's worthwhile doing it again with this new Lucas CLP? It seems that the product in your link may not actually be a CLP. But, I don't know, as prior to the last month, I've never used these products, and am certainly a novice in the arena of fire arms.
@SkullCrushInc
@SkullCrushInc 3 жыл бұрын
It’s the correct link. It’s CLP. I use it everyday.
