Excellent video. Refreshing to see a clear, accurate set of instructions on how to replace quartz tube. Rubber seal and metal washer sequence for SS Clear Ray units was particularly helpful. My Hot tub manual (Sundance 780 series hot tubs) is woefully deficient in this regard and the merchant for the hot tub has no clue on how to do this yearly critical maintenance task. Many thanks for your help.

Great video and tutorial. This video answered some questions that the Jacuzzi instructions do not address.

Ugh. I have the rectangular type. The nut for the quartz tube was massively overtightened from the factory. I gave up trying to get it off till I have spare parts. It looked quite clean as I ran a purge cleaner through the pipes as part of my maintenance and it wasn’t scaled. This is pretty simple but I still appreciate the video.

Mine was super tight. Think the thread wasn’t great. I took the tube out and did several tighten/loose cycles to make it smoother.

Great video. I’ve owned my jacuzzi 385 for 5 years and had never cleaned the quartz tube. This video provided easy-to-follow instructions that made it a snap. THANKS!!

Hello, was the quartz tube of your J385 was dirty with scaling as shown in the video? I own a J365 since 8 years and never cleaned the tube, only replaced the UV bulb. Thanks.

@@authierma It was very coated. I would recommend cleaning the tube as well when you change the bulb

Thank you, very helpful. How often should you replace the tube?

I would replace once a year along with the bulb. I find cleaning the inside of the quartz tube to be difficult to clean. However, hold onto it, just in case you are not able to get a replacement in time. Never hurts to have some available, just in case.

Great video! I’m preparing to winterize my Jacuzzi 245 and the instructions say to drain the clearray hose?

The way to do it would be to release the clip at the lowest point and let the water run out.

Factory so over tightened the nut. I broke the quartz tube getting it off.

@Hot Tub Studio - Gloucestershire On the rectangular type system, when I pulled out the quartz tube, it had a rubber boot on the closed end of the tube. Do I put that onto the replacement tube before inserting it back in or is it not needed? Directions from Sundance are not real clear. Thanks

Yes please replace the rubber on to the new tube before replacing 😊

While you're replacing the bulb you may notice that the manual says you should also take out the tube that holds the bulb once in a while. What ever you do... DON'T EVER CLEAN THE TUBE! This requires removing the light bulb and then removing the tube itself for cleaning. I know the manual says to do this once a year; DON'T DO IT! I followed the manual's instructions and tried this and the tube did not go in well. It went in fine by itself but once the light was inserted back in the tube shifted and started leaking. I talked to the folks where I about the tube from and they said that the tubes never go back in right and they suggest not changing them. I had a technician come out and try to do it and they couldn't do it either without leaking. Ended up having to replace the whole ClearRay assembly for $600.00. Call Jacuzzi about this and they were basically useless. They said, "if it's in the manual you should do it and what you're experiencing shouldn't happen and no, you can't talk to our technician"; basically useless and not helpful at all. The place where we bought the tube have always given me good advice and their customer service has been awesome from day one. Their recommendation... "NEVER CLEAN THE TUBE!". If you do, you're gonna have a bad (and expensive) day.

We are sorry to disagree, but it is important to ensure that the tube is clean in order to maximise the effectiveness of the ClearRay unit. It really is not a difficult job. Provided the tube is correctly repositioned, it goes back together very simply as shown in the video.
