How to clean the inside glass on a Kenmore oven door without removing the door

I did this, to my Kenmore. Be careful. When you separate the two pieces as illustrated, it bends the stainless steel tabs at the bottom of the door where it connects to the internal door. When I screwed it back together, by pulling the internal and external door apart, it bent the flanges at the bottom enough to leave a 1/4" gap between the glass and the bottom of the stainless steel. I had to take the door off (easy), unscrew the outside stainless steel from the internal door, and use pliers to renew the tabs where the screws are located back to 90 degree. It all worked out in the end.

I have my door taken apart, cleaned, and ready to reassemble. I didn't notice that anything bent when I took it apart. But I also tend to be incredibly careful and gentle with projects like this. I'm having to watch the video, though, to follow the reassembly order.

Thank you so much. I used to take out the door but one time the hinge lock released in the closed position when the door was off the oven and it took me hours to bring it back to the open position without breaking the glass! It was a pain and I always dreaded redoing it in the future until I saw This video! This way is definitely easier for a quick clean after a spill. There are screws at the bottom of the stainless steel front panel that could get bent if you bring the door all the way up so I had my wife help me hold the oven door at the 30 degree position to help prevent that from happening. 1) Its actually super easy to just take the door off the oven, then you can work on the ground. You just flip the little hinge locks down and the door comes right off. If you do that, things like taking the panel apart, putting the handle back on, etc are all way easier.. 2) I am pretty sure the area where the 2 parts of the door meet is not meant to move like a hinge, you are bending the metal tabs that hold the 2 together and they will break, you probably should take the door off and unscrew those tabs to separate the door panels to do this without breaking anything..

Letting the door all the way up bends the metal at the bottom. There are screws that should probably be taken off, but it is a pain. I don't think you can do this repeatedly because the metal will probably break after repeated bending.

Success! It turns out I only needed to remove the top screws for the handle one small screw at each side (and maybe the side screws were optional, too; I'd have to redo it to find out), and the 4 screws at the bottom. The glass naturally reseats itself. No lining it up so carefully for fear of the hinges was necessary. It only fits where it is SUPPPOSED to fit, for lack of a more precise explanation. The hinge lock system is super easy on this model, and from another video I knew to open the door all the way first, after pushing the hinges back in, in order to lock the locks, THEN close the door. And done! I should add that I did not go the extra mile and open up the very middle window, as you did not here as well. It wasn't dirty between the panes because there really isn't much of a way for anything to get in there. There is a video with a different 2007 white model where he shows how to open that part. Just didn't seem necessary.

I took the door off, spent half the day trying to figure out how to get inside the 2 glass pieces inside the main door after taking the glass (what you have laying flat) thought Mt streaks were gone, when I was done getting every outer inch clean, there were still streaks inside the main 2 pieces of glass behind lots of screws! Going to finish tomorrow, I'm fried!!

I don't know why they don't make it easier for people to clean the oven glass when they design a stove..they darn well know **** is going to drip down into the holes..I only use the oven once or twice a year so from the inside I covered the holes with black tape...I have a huge convection oven I use a lot.

I did this- and it seemed to go well- but now I have a gap of nearly 1/2 inch where the outside metal frame of the door meets the glass- so now I get to pay a repairman to come out and fix it-
