I've cleaned, and recoated the bag with Martexin wax. The results were great once the wax coating got broken in and softened with use. I also recondition the leather with a leather glove conditioner. Well worth the effort and expense.

andrew peterson It’s a company that sells high end bags made from leather and waxed canvas. Well worth the price but any canvas bag can be waxed.

​@Gear Monkey Peracetic acid. Although it's becoming a somewhat common home remedy, note that it's an unstable solution that's mildly corrosive. Better checking guidelines on dilution, ventilation and protection out before applying it. Result has been wonderful in my case.

THIS IS A SCAM!! I bought 3 backpacks from The Breton Company in 2018. I didn't receive the items and have been asking for a refund for months now. They had excuse after excuse saying that they had manufacturing problems and would be working on "eventually" refunding the money. It has been 3 years, no backpacks, no refund, no responding to emails, yet they keep sending marketing emails promoting their products with offers. Their website is still up and running, and to this day, they keep taking people's money. Their social media is bombarded with people in my same situation. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

You could try an iron and a piece of brown paper, just put the scrap paper over the wax spillage and iron on top of it. It's easy removing wax from flat sheets of fabric but shoes might be harder.. good luck

Hi. What can I use if the wipes and cloth don't remove the dirt? -Mine has dark discoloured patches. The local cleaners said these were oil based and wouldn't come out. Were they right?! Or is there something I can use?

If it's not bad, I might leave it be. Canvas bags are not used for business meetings or formal wear. They are, by nature, a casual item. Those imperfections can add 'character' to the bag and make it look better. Kind of like those professional ripped jeans that people are willing to pay a fortune for.

You can try to use degreaser from Walmart. They sell it in big round bottle. I forgot the name but I can check it if you want. It is great and doesn't ruin the fabric, I cleaned my car interior fabric with it without a damaging it.
