How to Clean Your Dymo LabelWriter 450 Series Printer

While Dymo LabelWriter printers are extremely reliable, occasionally our customers do experience problems where the printer is feeding labels incorrectly or skipping labels while printing or leaving streaks on the label. In most cases, this problem is solved by checking whether the spool is firmly pressed against the roll or whether the left edge of the label is aligned with the left edge of the label feed slot. Sometimes, however, the problem is a result of adhesive stuck to the print head or interfering with the sensor’s ability to detect the labels. On those occasions, it’s necessary to remove the front of your printer and manually remove any adhesive.

Great suggestions. After following them carefully, I realized that the problem wasn't the printer, it was a defective roll of labels that caused the problems. It was a roll of Dymo labels.

Thank you for this info, WD40 solves a ton of problems and this printer needing to be cleaned is no exception. My labels were coming out with lines obscuring the bar code and I was freaking out for a second. QTip and WD40 restored my printer to as new condition. THANKS!

I’ve been wanting to get a label printer for my small business for the longest time and finally pulled the trigger. I’m glad I did ! This machine is great kzbin.infoUgkxw55tQTywUAAOsbrlwxONZULry77sFF1Q and the blue/green color matches the rest of the accents in my office. My favorite part is how small the footprint is. It’s less than 1/4 the size of my regular printer.Set up was fairly easy. Seller will email you a link with video instructions Which I found to be more helpful than the written instructions. I use a Mac and had no issues. They even included an adaptor for USB to USB-c which is great because I’m always losing mine! I had a few issues getting the labels to print properly and wasted quite a few sheets. You need to play around with the settings to get everything adjusted just right. If you have the wrong settings, it’ll crop off the edges or feed through blank labels. These aren’t issues with the machine though, just user error.

Better than WD-40 is lighter fluid. It's petroleum based solvent that works wonders on label goo. I use it on every new plastic item I buy that inevitably comes with some sort of UPC label. It's not oily and dries much faster than WD. Zippo or Robinson brand works well. At most pharmacies.

My wife just had this issue and someone had posted to try a different roll of labels. She swapped them out and now it prints correctly. Ironically, the originals were Dymo labels, and the new roll is not.... Sometimes it is a simple thing like changing the materials.
