I have found a cheap Synthetic Shaving Brush works best. The soft bristles get into every nook and cranny with no damage to the cutters or foil.

I picked up a few things from this clip but from what i hear you should be super gentle when cleaning the blades themselve. Very prone to breaking, bending and cracking. Also its good for people to know that you can wash the foil heads and leave them to dry before putting them back on the machine

I just got an fx3 and it doesnt state anytjing about needing to oil it in the manual. So im assuming oil isnt necessary for these vibration type foil cutters vs. Moving blades on clippers...?
@dugascuts3 ай бұрын
@@jovanventura8726 yes you are correct. I’ve never oiled my foil shavers before. The reason for oiling the clippers is because friction on the moving blade and the still blade. Foils don’t have that.

Love the tutorial bro. These things are beasts. Want to take care of it. Only one question. When you spray it with the disinfectant it kinda leaves the blades a lil oily. When you use it again, wont it be harder to get the hair off of the now oily blades? And if so, do you have a method for cleaning hairy oily blades?
@Miguelstradamus5 ай бұрын
Wait a minute. I oiled my blades before spraying the Andis. So that's why they were oily. Does the andis spray alone leave an oily film on the blades or no?

I just bought a Babyliss FX3 for home use. I plan on shaving my face and neck with it. Your being pretty rough with that brush and the blades, is that okay to do all the time? Like I won't damage the blade or deteriorate it's life quicker? The FX3 came with a little brush, like super little. I wouldn't mind getting a larger one like you have to save time. For my spray I picked up some Babyliss Pro All In One, I guess it's disinfects and lubricates. Hopefully it was the a purchase. This is my first foil shaver so I'm trying to read up all i can and watch videos before I even use it the first time (got it yesterday). Technically I owned one like 25 years ago, but it chewed up my face so bad I threw it out. I'm so sick of wet shaving though, I need this to work. Also, do you know any good video on how to shave with the FX3? That search title is what lead me to this video. I wanna make sure I'm using it right. I guess I should just search for "how to shave with foil shaver" instead since it's probably pretty universal. I don't wanna screw up, get wicked razor burn, and abandon ship after spending this much money.

Make sure it’s dry before you put the machine to your head again or someone else’s. You don’t wanna put disinfectant on skin.

do you oil them with a clipper oil?
@dugascuts6 ай бұрын
I don’t oil mine, never have and never will. We oil clippers because there’s 2 blades moving back and forth on each other. But with a foil we don’t have that. I know some people do but I personally don’t

Do not oil your foil shaver. The reason we oil our clippers is because there is 2 blades rubbing against each other. The foil doesn't need oiled

Man, not trying to be an ass but this video is NOT how one should clean their foil shaver. Need to clean thoroughly like you said, but MUCH more gently. The way you were handling and beating on those blades is going to dull the hell out of them quick. Use a softer brush, or better yet compressed air like the cans they sell for cleaning keyboards. If using a brush better to clean from under the blades as much as possible and not over the sharp/top part of the blades.
