Hi, greetings from Germany and thanx a lot for your valuable explanations and demonstrations. I have one question, to which I also would apreciate your point of view: Is the material of the outer slide really of such an importance for the sound and response? I myself have the feeling, that this is over-estimated. Especially considering the fact, that depending on the position more or less of the outer slide material is directly contacting the resonating air volume. So the sound would change depending on the position...!? Would be glad to hear from you - have a good time!

Absolutely, it makes a big difference. Yesterday I played my 42T with my slide (Bach A47- yellow outers and crook) and with a different outer slide only (rose outers and crook). The sound and response were COMPLETELY different between the two. It felt like a different instrument, with only one part different!

Out of curiosity have you actually seen or heard of dents or full on broken off crooks from people trying to hard to push the cleaning rod too far down?
