Thanks!. My brother brand cartridge did not look like this, so I carefully forced it back, I heard it scratch the gears. But I tried it since it was this or send it to recycle. I put it back in and it made a bit of noise and did not accept it. Took it out and put it back in and then worked. The OEM brand I had, looks a bit different and allowed me to lift out.

worked on TN2420 cartridge (MFC-L2710DN) after "toner out" message. Because according to Brother, cartridge had more than 2 years. On my model, simply turn a quarter round.

BTW, what did you do? Install a new cartridge and waste the toner in the old cartridge?

It appears that in 2022 Brother won't allow any fix other than replacing with OEM cartridge. Haven't been able to eliminate replace toner error message.

@@MalibuGlassMI Surprise. I spent hours over many days and somehow found "Toner Continue Mode" in FAQ'S. There are instructions on how to override the error message. They actually work. I'm still using my original toner now. Check it out. Should work for anyone 👍
