Le Morne Brabant Mountain is situated in the Indian Ocean Island of Mauritius on the western side of the island.
There are many caves and overhangs on the steep slopes.
It is largely surrounded by a lagoon and is a well-known tourist attraction.
It was the refuge of the maroon slaves between the 18th and 19th centuries, where they gathered in caves.
The myth attached to the mountain refers to a collective suicide of brown slaves who took refuge on the top of the mountain during the colonial period.
