So happy to find an actual tutorial on this that actually explains it and not just a sped up video with music. Thanks

Thanks Mike! Your tutorials are awesome, really help shed some light on some great basic tips/approaches to comic coloring. And agreed, nice to find a set of videos that aren't just showy speed videos.

Great videos. I'm currently working my way through a book on coloring but these are great for reinforcing the reading between the lines that I'm having to do. Seriously considering your online course in a few months. Thanks.

+K Michael Russell It's a great book - I won't mention the name - but figuring out how to apply some of the techniques has been somewhat troubling. I have a decent grasp of the art side and the technical side (how to use photoshop), but the technique to achieve the look you want is what I'm working on learning.

1- how did you select the shaded area when coloring the blur fro the lap top?
@lamonteriste33445 жыл бұрын
Wait... how did you do that with the brush? The whole size gradient thing. Is that a hot key?

The photoworkshop lightcage doesn't work anymore ?

This is an old video. There are significantly better lighting refs apps like Handy, etc.

I know this is an old video and there are other (better) modelling apps available now, but the light cage app was flash based and no longer works.
@colorwithkurt3 жыл бұрын
Yep. I recommend Handy Art Reference Tool. :)

@@colorwithkurt That was a surprise, thanks. Never expected a response on 6 year old post. Another thing which wasn't working was your free beginner's course. I was going to check if you had put the videos up on your channel.
@colorwithkurt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It was just a typo in the URL. It's updated. All of my courses are still live at learn.comiccolor.com Also, the KZbin notifies me of all comments, regardless of how old the video is. :)

@@colorwithkurt I look forward to checking them out. Thanks.

I love this style of highlights, it just screams comics to me. Do you still do this in procreate ever? I imagine it works similarly.
@GrinningFeline6 жыл бұрын
I tried it with procreate, and it is obnoxiously difficult, compared to doing it in photoshop. That being said, your current style is fast and looks great. I might be adopting some of it. (Just something that gave me trouble, (that I'm sure you figured out) you cant use a brush with the same blending mode as the layer on a mask. I was driving myself crazy with that.)

went to the photoworkshop site but did not find this light setup you showed. Where do I find that?
