Hello, as a begginer I find it very difficult to color without a very clean lineart (for flat base colors). Your video is very helpful thank you 🌷 Love from France

Your method is both simple and practical, dear Victor, if it is possible, in the next video, draw a sample of character design for us in the same way and teach us, I would appreciate it.

Hi Victor Thankyou so much for these clear, to the point & informative video. i want to ask you do you usually limit your value groups to just 4 - 5 value in the beginning ?

Excellent advice, Victor! Two questions: I'm using Rebelle 7 and I have the color wheel set as a color box. The color box is divided into 9 x 9 sections (columns and rows). This way the rows represent values of a selected color. So, if the usable color ranges of 1 to 8 (minus blacks) represent the different values, if I go to my mountains; as an example, I can color pick that brown of the mountain. This will give me the value, then I can use any hue I want as long as it stays in the same value, correct? Most landscapes represent four values (sky, mountains, trees/rocks, and foreground/grass), so I can use values 1 and 2 for the sky, correct? 3 and 4 for mountains, etc... I can also be aware of the value of brown block-in that I use too, huh? :) Thanks again, Victor!

Hey Robert! Rebelle is a cool software, I am testing it right now too. About the method for applying value and color. The fact that you have a limited value range is very good, it is the key to having a readable value composition. Just make sure it is not a constant gradation, meaning that in every scenario you have the same increments of value going from light to dark. From the sky being the brightest and then some grass in the foreground is the darkest. Mix it up so that somewhere the contrast is smaller and somewhere it is bigger, say you have sky at 80-90% white then the mountain 50-60%and trees and other stuff at 40%-45 and then something else at 20-30...different spacing and relations. The best guide would be to have a nice set of reference images.

Hi Victor! I wanted to express my gratitude for your response! Your technique of painting the value block-in has been incredibly helpful for me. I'm currently halfway through my latest painting using your method, and I can already see its effectiveness. It's been particularly useful in pushing past that initial "ugly stage" that many paintings go through, where doubts about its success arise. Ensuring accurate values throughout the process really brings the painting to life and makes it more believable, if that makes sense. This painting involves some cows, so I've taken the next step and downloaded some transparent "png" cows to place on the same layer, allowing me to paint my cows right alongside them. :) If you don't mind, I have one more question: I've noticed you haven't made a video explaining why you use the color bars in the way you do, unlike other artists I've seen on KZbin. Could you elaborate on the advantages you gain from your color selection approach? On another note, Rebelle currently has some bugs, but don't let that deter you too much. They're likely to get everything sorted out within the next month or two. Keep painting, my friend! You've gained a loyal subscriber in me! PS: I plan on making an entire post on my blog using screen prints of today's painting using your technique that really does work!

Does the patreon brush pack work on procreate? I'm more on the beginner side and I struggle with knowing what brushes to use and for what purposes. Very helpful.
