This time of year, dry eye can exacerbate significantly for many people.
Dryness can exacerbate by internal and/or external, environmental factors.
Environmentally, in winter we tend to have the heat on, and the air at home and at workplaces can lose humidity and become dryer.
Many of us also sweat less in the winter, reducing the oils that are brought to the surface of the skin.
Many also take more frequent and longer, hot baths and showers which can dry out our skin and tear film.
Try a humidifier in your bedroom and/or workspace.
Increase water-rich foods (fruits, veggies, during winter and healthy fats and foods like soups and stews.
Restrict caffeine, alcohol and sugar.
