Ciao Robert, a lot of incredible guitarists was born in Sicily. Wonderful Region of Italy. It must be the sun and the good food!

Ciao Alessandra. Ti ho pensato più volte mentre intervistavo Peppino. È vero che ci sono molti grandi chitarristi siciliani, ma sembra che Matteo Mancuso riceva la maggior parte dell'attenzione.

Man... this is a masterclass! I don't think 14 minutes have ever flew by so fast in my whole life! Thank you Robert Cassard for bringing the knowledge, and Peppino D'Agostino for sharing it!

Wonderful breakdown of a favorite tune of mine. I first saw Peppino at a workshop in Danville around 2001 right as I was starting to write in DADGAD. He was and continues to be an inspiration to push out of my comfort zone. Thanks Robert, I enjoyed this. (It's also comforting to me that my mom saw him near her place close to Yosemite a few years before she passed. She called me to gush about him and asked if I knew him. She adored him.)

Thank you, Jon. I'm glad you know about Peppino and have experienced his teaching skills. Sounds like it was good timing as you ventured into alternate tunings like DADGAD. It says a lot about your pedigree that your mom was a Peppino fan, too! 😎

You’re welcome. He’s quite brilliant, and I especially love his compositions in alternate tunings, like Nine White Kites. That Cm7sus tuning is lush!

Yet another reward for being your admirer. "I just follow my fingers and what the fingers lead me to" -- these words will be etched forever in my mind. Peppino's philosophy is highly inspirational, I am deeply stirred by this exemplary video. Thank you very much, Robert.

I’m so happy that Peppino’s words are having such an impact on you, Eashwar! It is quite an inspiration to realize he had to “follow his fingers” to compose every note and chord of Nine White Kites.

So glad that you covered the work and artistry of Peppino D'Agostino! My wife and I have been hosting concerts with Peppino at our home in the Berkeley hills. He sometimes brings remarkable musicians with him, ranging from Carlos Reyes (harpist and mandolin player)...or Jenna Mamina (jazz sza singer). Our next concert with him is tentatively scheduled for Saturday September 14, 2024!

Me, too, Dana! When we got together lat month, Peppino and I "went deep" on all kinds of music topics. So I'm looking forward to sharing more interview content, and beautiful examples of his playing.
