Hi Manjeet, couple of questions here: First, when we create a DVS switch and then associate the Hosts to it and with no other configurations will the hosts be able to communicate(i.e ping) with each other since they are now connected onto one single DVS switch ? Second, What happen to the VMs residing on those individual hosts which(hosts) we have associated with a particular DVS switch. Let's say I have two hosts which I have associated with a DVS switch and under both these hosts we have two VMs will those VMs be also associated now onto the default port group of the DVS switch or we have to move them by our own in their edit settings properties. ? Third, Let's say I put two VMs in two different distributed port groups on my DVS switch and these two VMs may be residing on a single Host or on a different host then as per what I understood is that these two VMs won't be able to communicate with each other since these are in different port groups. Right ? Also what if the distributed port groups be different for these two VMs but the VLAN be same and what if the distributed port groups be same for these two VMs but VLAN be different ? Lastly, even if you create a DVS switch and associate the hosts to it so will the hosts association with the vSwitch be dropped i.e. cut off and now it will be on DVS switch or it will be with vSwitch as well in addition to DVS switch. To put it in other words let's say i have a host and have one VM on it and i associated that host with the DVS switch and now when i ping the VM which is residing on the same host will the ping packet goes from the host to DVS switch and from there to VM or it will go directly from host to vSwitch and then to VM? On which factor it depends ? Sorry for this long questions list but i thought to put all the queries at once. :)
