Thank you for this. I just updated Veeam O365 today to v5.0.1.179 and for some reason, under modern authentication with Allow for using legacy auth protocol checked it switched to certificate and of course I didn't have my application ID secret saved, so I had to re-create that, and then it made me assign some new API permissions which I didn't have added in the past. Had to add Office 365 Exchange Online full_access_as_app and SharePoint had to add Sites.FullControl.All and User.Read.All. Everything worked until I did the update for Veeam Office 365 today. But got it all fixed thanks to this video which was a nice refresher as I couldn't remember how I did it two years ago!

Thank you very much, the part about registering the Azure App is very easy but can't be more confusingly explained in Veeam's documentation. Switched all my customers to version 3 and modern authentication in a single morning thanks to this. Edit: lol, I just saw the blog post you linked, Veeam SHOULD post that in their documentation!

@7:46 - the snapshot backup, does it backup only stuff that is in the mailbox at the time of backup 12am? so between 9am and 5pm, if there are new emails/documents and they got deleted, they will not show in the next backup?
@TDSheridanLab4 жыл бұрын
correct, if you're backing up deleted items and then you may be able to restore those items from the deleted items folder.

TD Sheridan LAB how i can backup my office365 in azure
@TDSheridanLab5 жыл бұрын
kawal singh to my knowledge you can’t. You can either use a 3rd party room like sky kick or you would have to stand up a virtual machine in azure running veeam (or whatever software) to hold office 365 back ups in azure. Honestly since it backups of email and sharepoint. If you don’t have an on prem environment I would look at synology’s solution I did a video on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6G7n4qDj5qCmZI The synology solution will be away more economical then hosting a veeam vm in azure

Have been watching this video and the video on Synology 365 backup. What would you say is the biggest difference? Is the Synology (thats free) good enough?
@TDSheridanLab Жыл бұрын
The because difference is Veeam is an enterprise product so it can scale easier whereas Synology is limited to the unit itself.
