I have a clarification question. Are the center console harness wires that are tapped into, the BOSE amp "input" wires (between the head unit and the amp)? or are they the BOSE amp "output" wires (between amp and existing speakers)?

2011 Escalade esv platinum, I know this video is super old. But I have searched everywhere for info. My install is set up similar to this video. With the exception, I hooked in closer to the 8 pin that supplies the subwoofer output. ( due to heated and cooled cupholder drip tray) I am getting a pretty loud hum from what I have narrowed down to either the bcm for the door ajar or the active noise cancelation microphones. Using a kicker loc with chassis ground and remote output. The hum is isolated to loc inputs and rca cables. Tried a different set with double shielding with no change. With the vehicle on and stereo on mute and the doors closed, you get the hum through the aftermarket subs. The moment you open any door/hatch. The hum goes away with the radio still on mute. If you close the door slowly. The moment it gets close to the striker door not latched the hum returns. I am a tech irl and exhausted my end of diag trouble shooting. To me, it's ground loop noise from the circuit that completes with the door closed.

Ahhh I love the method you used to tap the wires, my first time seeing somebody do it cleanly or not using t taps. I'm about to attempt this on my 2010 Avalanche with Bose. Was given one of those Chinese powered subs, 200 rms 800 peak 2 channel with 25a built in fuse. My plan was to first use an 8g inline 30a fuse, solder the power cable to that and run it along the passenger trim to the amp behind the passenger side rear seat. Ground the amp under the seat. Finally, tap into the sub harness with 16g wire and solder in the Hi-Lo and connect the RCA and remote turn on wire that the line converter includes. I'm hoping that will be all I need though I admittedly have some caution as it's my first time. Would be really cool if hell froze and somebody actually read this and gassed me up a little. Haha Not to mention I'm clueless as to how to adjust my gain and all that still.

This is an awesome video, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have a 2015 Yukon Denali XL and can not deal with the Bose Center point system any longer. I am installing a Rockford Fosgate P10001bd Amp, with a custom 1" Thick MDF Enclosure (2 x 0.7 Cu-In), and Two Punch 10" P3S Shallow 4-Ohm DVC Subwoofers. I trust if I dig under my center console I should find a similar situation as the one you have posted. I want to run high level as my amp has a provision for this and does not need a remote wire if I use High Level. My question to you: Is this location after the Sub amp? Just before the factory AMP that I want to disconnect anyways?
@buswellbrandon2 жыл бұрын
Very nice and very clean excellent work my question for you is how much power is the stock amp going to push say 212s? Or 210s even? Like I’m generally thinking like 1000 W or so roughly so is it going to hit really hard or not at all comparatively with an aftermarket amp?
@duffelbagdustin99444 ай бұрын
That Bose amp is definitely not running your 10's or 12's or at least barely. Get a good quality 500-1000 watt amp and quality aftermarket subs that-thisnis important - either come in, or are installed in, the properly sized bos for recommended cu air space for your specific sub application

My 2012 Frontier has the factory Rockford Fosgate "premium" system. There are high-level inputs into the factory amp which drives the eight speakers plus the sub-woofer. I read on a forum that replacing the head unit would result in too much voltage going to the input side of the factory amp and damage it over time. They recommended using something like the Scosche SLC4 to reduce the voltage from the new head unit to match the factory head unit. Is this really a problem? If this is the case, could I just buy a good stereo with 5 volt pre-amps and wire them into the factory "high-level" input?

This was the opposite of what I was looking for. My issue is the aftermarket stereo is deafeningly loud through the Bose system. Do you have a video of how to make an aftermarket stereo work with the Bose system and still have normal volume control? I put in the adapter that keeps the GM chimes but it apparently doesn't compensate for the volume. I soldered in resistors to the stereo's speaker wires and that makes the volume work, but it also makes a terrible alternator whine in the system.

If I'm not mistaken on these systems you can even skip using an LOC and just solder on you RCAs on your before the amplifier side. At least on most of the silverado models..... the stock head unit puts out in between 4 to 6 volts clean. Also you can do aftermarket deck and instead of using the speaker level outs to tie into a maestro unit for example you can just use the RCA outputs and connect those in place of where you would normally connect the speaker wires. I just did this with a 2008 silverado 2500HD using pioneer 5100 double din and maestro and left the Bose amp and it sounds amazingly good. Plus you can turn it up all the way without it distorting.
