Brilliant! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. My desktop died years ago and I haven't bothered to build another, as from tablet and now phone has taken over everything I needed a computer for. However, I still have a stack of ata and SATA drives with documents and files on them. I thought I would have to build another machine to access them. Thanks again.

@@dogsing1789 That's not exactly right. If there is NTFS on the disk, Android must be able to read such a disk, but it does not have to follow all the rules exactly. For example, my player can read an NTFS disk, but it is not interested in issues such as permissions or file ownership. He will read what he takes. Because the driver implementation is simplified.

My experience with 3.5" laptop drives is they get enough power with just the USB. Same for smaller sd (memory only) drives.

What do you mean by password? If the disk was encrypted, it is of course impossible to read the disk without the appropriate software. And it seems that encryption may be at the level of BIOS and or (in this case) Windows itself. However, the account password no longer matters.

Автор видео не сказал о самом главном. Для того чтобы Андроид-смарфон увидел жёсткий диск, жёсткий диск должен быть с отформатированной системой FAT32 или exFAT. А большинство жестких дисков обычно отфарматированы в системе NTFS. Если только в современные смартфоны не добавили поддержку NTFS формата, ну или должно быть установлено на смартфон стороннее приложение, работающее с NTFS.

It would work on any phone that supports USB OTG connection. You can easily find them in the settings. And, yes, you can use any sized HDD or SSD without problems.

Nope it just reads it and a mobile battery can only output upto 5v but in this case the hard drive draws power from the external psu and the mobile don't even output 5v
