For those who still have issues and this doesn't work: Try unplugging the back of your console (the power button) and plug it back in and try these methods again.

Thanks I went to my cousins house and sense his sister broke there controller they didn’t have one, so I brought mine and connect it there. Reset your Xbox.. Hold your power button on your system for 10 seconds until it power off.. And then unplug the power for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.. Start the console and then do the sync process.. Mine did the same thing and that's what I did

Just unplug the power supply and plug it back in then use your remote and all should be normal. This is the easiest way.

It's stunning that in 2020, Microsoft still have issues with controllers pairing with the console. I've had to repair my console to any controller weekly. And that's them just STAYING in sync. Not actually managing to do it. The PS3/4, heck even the Wii are so simple, it's something Microsoft could've learned from. Cheers for the video. Thought I was doing something wrong. Just a matter of repeated tries with the One S :/
