Thank you so much for a clear and informative video. I was going nuts that I could not plug in the optical cables. I would NEVER have thought that those little plastic plugs were to be removed. I couldn't see them that well and thought they were little bulbs. Thanks for addressing the fact that the cable might be hard to push in because it needed to go in a particular way and you encouraged one to keep moving it around until it clicked. ​@@bhupinderfilm I did the same thing. Those covers are so small. Nothing written anywhere about taking them off. In fact the thing worked with them on. It just did not go in all the way. Somehow it still worked with them on. However after removing them they went in much more securely. I can't believe that there was not something in the TV or soundbar manual about removing those covers. You are the only one who said to do that. Normally such things are obvious as the covers are so big. However in the case of the optical cables the covers are so tiny I thought at first that they should remain. I thought it was part of the cable. I plugged them in with the covers and it worked. The sound was fine. However the cables did not go in all the way. They were not really securely in place. I watched your video and removed the caps. The cables are much more secure now. The sound is great. You are a genius.

So So helpful; I was lost (trying to fit the cable before I found your video) until I heard you say it only fits in one direction, also the cover confused me-nowhere in any Denon or RCA (my TV) instructions does it mention the hinged cover (I thought I bought the wrong cable,ha ha) and then I saw the cover retract when you connected it. Namaste Bhupinder. You are right, nothing works easily first time. I could not get my old Smart TV to work with my Yamaha reciver using HDMI arc. Itried everything So in frustration I bought a TOS link cable. I did not know how to put it in as I did not want to beak anything. One YOutube guy said that the TOS link plug has a sort of capital D shape which you should use to line up and insert the plug till it "snaps" But it was your video that told me that I had to remove the plastic covers from the cable one at each end! The guy in the shop never told me that. And the other youtube video never told me to remove the plastic cover! Now I am going with my tv through my AV reviever and my TOSlink!! Its a good sound! Thankyou

If you use the HDMI connection instead of the Optical Cable you should get better sound quality. Use the HDMI (ARC) input.

Thanks! I feel so stupid now. I didn't realize there were little rubber caps on the end of the optical cable. Then I was wondering why it didn't click into place. But it worked, even with those caps on! For sure though, eventually the cables would have fallen out. Anyhow, after watching your video I went and checked and sure enough, there were little rubber caps on. Took them off, reconnected, and the ends click into place quite securely. You did very well solving the puzzles you encountered.

Guys I have a JVC 2.1 soundbar and a normal flat screen TV with a Dstv decoder. The sound is coming from both the TV and slightly from the soundbar. Hello, I'm trying to connect a DVD surround sound (what you're referring to as sound box) to my TV with a chromecast. My DVD surround sound only has one HDMI input... I'm wondering if connected my chromecast to the HDMI input of the DVD surround sound box and connected that to the TV using this Optical cable option will allow me to play my chromecast to the TV with the surround sound. I worked out that I needed to remove the PLASTIC covers from the ends of the cables alright (in spit of lack of instructions), and after attaching the supplied cable converter, successfully inserted the cable into my LG soundbar. However, with or without an adaptor, it would NOT go in my Samsung 7 Series TV. Bought both online I'll have to go to their local branch. So irritating!

I have an Avantree wireless headphone. Installing with the 3.5mm audio plug (banana plug) to the Hisense was mutually exclusive, Headset Control then no TV audio, remove plug, TV Audio worked. To resolve the situation, I installed the Optical Audio Cable into the TV and then into the Avantree Control unit (do not forget to remove the protective caps from the Optical Audio Cable) Remove the 3.5mm Audio Cable from the TV. Now you should be able to turn down or mute the TV, turn on the Avantree Control and headset (light on headset turns to solid blue). Then adjust the volume on the headset. To listen to the TV exclusively, turn off the headphones (light on the headset turns from blue to red) and adjust the volume on the TV using the remote... -or- use both!

I watched one video and the optical cable did not appear to be the same, so I googled, "what does an optical cable look like" and your video came up and I am thankful. When I started to watch your video I saw you had a Samsung soundbar and I was like cool this may be the answer and it WAS! I heard you say there were rubber tips on the end of the cable and saw you push them off. I as you was trying to insert the cable WITH the rubber tip and I was frustrated because it did not fit...lol. I had never used an optical cable before and I thought that was the entire design. Thanks much for making this a 12 3 step. Shame on Samsung for not adding that CRITICAL information into the manual.

Hahaahha. What happen to my father was that he was trying to plug it with the platic things. And he couldn’t stick it in. So he end up getting a fucking knife. Went to the tv and broke off the little cap that goes up when you stick it in and down when you unplug it. So he return the cables. Thinking they were the wrong ones. we have a sound bar that you can use av in on but my tv only has a optical audio out but my sound bar has a optical in as well so all that we need is a cable.
