Epicenter was game changer when it first came out in the late '80s early '90s. Very cool setup. Audio control is the best

I like the looks of this and the price. I have a Stinger 700.1 I've been running at 2ohm into a Sundown Classic 12" sub. Have to say its sounds great. No issues whatsoever. Doesnt even get warm at all. I see a few hating on them, but for the price and performance you can't beat it!
@jgb664Ай бұрын
everybody hating on this is stunning to me. you can get a strong 200 watt per channel 4 channel amp for under 200 bucks? this is a crazy good win. running a stinger 4 channel right now that was over 300, will definitely be using this for my next sub

So this linking cable is just power, ground and remote? I thought they were interfaced together or something. Maybe even an Epicenter built into the amp. This is a bit of a let down. 😮

@dayummimflyy Very cool. Looks like it came out about 10 years ago. I never saw it before. In thinking about it, I'm not sure combining the two makes sense. I imagine it would add about $100 to the cost of the amp. It's also kind of a niche device and not everyone wants it. If you buy the standalone version you can use it with any amp. Maybe AC was testing the waters with the 1200.

You don't.. you can if the head unit allows it defeat the head unit x-over. And just use one's built into the amp. If not just run the epicenter after the head unit x-over.. won't hurt anything.

@dayummimflyy3 ай бұрын
This looks like it’s going to end up stock shelved, there’s really nothing that screams out to me as an “added feature”. It also makes the amp look “very busy” with epic link, AND ACR-e, and then you need two controllers it’s a bit robust for the market that’s trying to use the minimal amount of space
@JasonWW20003 ай бұрын
@dayummimflyy Whether you need two controllers depends on which Epicenter model you use. If Concert series, then yes. If Micro, then no.

@@JasonWW2000interesting… good to know
@JasonWW20003 ай бұрын
@dayummimflyy I can confirm, the dual knob setup on the Micro has a very linear level control so it can take the place of the amp level control. Having the two knobs stacked is actually pretty nice. As I turn up the effect I usually turn down the level. So having both in the same place is very handy.

Sad that Stinger is just putting AudioControl on everything now. This is obviously just a cheesy made in China amp that they are hoping to sell at Skar price point to pander to the buy cheap folks. Bad look for the brand.
@JasonWW20003 ай бұрын
None of that is obvious to me. Do you have insider knowledge or something?
@Anonymous-cu8eu3 ай бұрын
Pretty obvious to us brick and mortar shop owners. Look at the Stinger MT series of amps. These are the same thing with a minor change. Same for the previously named Phoenix Gold sub boxes that are now "AudioControl".

@Anonymous-cu8eu Okay. It doesn't seem cheesy, sad or a bad look to me, though. It seems like your typical rearranging of products to clean up the line.

I tried the epicenter but for the life of me I cant get it to sound good. It sounds muddy like its trying to recreate too many frequencies at the same time no matter what setting on it I use..Yes, even with the wide knob to the left and sweep at various hz, remote to minimum. and can confirm the music playing is weak on bass on high volume normally

Which model did you have and did you feed it a full range signal?

@@JasonWW2000 The big one in the video. I tried both, full range from the front channel rca with full range, now I have it on the subwoofer rca out the radio ( Sony DSX-GS80 ). Sound a lil bit better with the sub rca but the radio lpf only goes as high as 120hz and can’t be turned off.

@JasonWW20003 ай бұрын
@Gotyoulooking Okay, that's the Concert series. The only thing I can think of is you've got big subs that can probably play really low. The Concert series comes with a 33hz infrasonic filter. I've got a different unit set to 20hz and I've tried raising the filter to like 27hz and I didn't like it. I put it back to 20hz. Maybe your 33hz filter is hurting the sound? The Epicenter loves to produce that low frequency, earthquake sound. Lol Hmmm, with other units, like the Wavtek Bassrestor, it adds the new lower frequency beat straight to the music and if the original beat is kinda low, they are too close together giving me a muddy sound. When I switched to the AC Epicenter Micro I noticed that as I turned up the effect the new low frequency got louder and the original, higher frequency got pulled down. This gave me a cleaner, single bass note. I assume the Concert series functions just like the Micro unit. I've only ever fed it a full range signal. The techs at Audio Control told me it needs at least a signal up to 1,000 hz. I should point out that it is very song dependent. Some songs can sound great, and some just can't. I like my settings with the width all the way to the left, like you, and I usually just barely turn the effect up. Usually. It's like adding that little bit of extra seasoning on a meal.
@Gotyoulooking3 ай бұрын
@@JasonWW2000 exactly my experience right now. I left it on my system and never reach the 11 o’clock position with the knob now with songs I want a lil bump in bass. My subs do dig down pass the 20hz and it got taken care of by the dsp’s 20hz cutoff, and I can confirm you don’t hear it but man do you feel it 😅. Thanks for sharing.

It is cheap and low quality. Clearly an off the shelf design from a build house with the small addition of a circuit that taps into the power and ground for the epicenter. Nothing special.

Not their best logo design. It seems old fashioned. I wonder if they used a focus group. Did average people say they liked it?

@Anonymous-cu8eu How do you know these things? What your saying is not clear to me.
@Anonymous-cu8eu3 ай бұрын
They took the stinger MT amplifier line and basically slapped the AudioControl name on it and added a fused power output. Lame
@TheSFFV3 ай бұрын
Well the logo makes sense. The logo is the same as the logo on a Epicenter. And being these amps are made to use with an Epicenter it makes sense. What would be cool is if they had the same thing on the 4 ch and smaller 2 channel to interface with their dsp. This makes installs so much easier. And especially with today's cars with start/stop.
