Thanks my man! It saved a lot of time. I've been searching for a simple front-end to my sql database and Access still is the best option and coding free. Regards!

I have been using the MS Access database for a long time, and now I would like the data to be saved in the sql server on my qnap device locally. What is the cost of SQL Server if I use it locally and would that be a good solution?
@carlostdcjr Жыл бұрын
@@Igor-oc4om I use the Express Edition, for my need it fit perfectly. In the official page you can find the limitations and requirements.

How do I then connect from Ms Access to Sql in another computer
@Mohamed.GadAllah3 жыл бұрын
Does using this method will help to bypass and avoid the 2 GB database size limit?
@jiejenn3 жыл бұрын
Yup, it will since your actual data is stored in a different place.
@Mohamed.GadAllah3 жыл бұрын
@@jiejenn You mean if I did that with all tables in the database I will be safe? What other issues would you recommend me to do and learn to avoid technical problems later on? I hope that I can do connect all Access form to Microsoft SQL server and use Access as a front end and MS SQL Server as a back end. Liked & Subscribed :)

Hi @JieJenn- After follow your steps by linking a table, I have created more tables in MS SQL Server but MS Access aren't updated with the new tables in MS SQL Server. How do I update it?
@jiejenn3 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I understand your question. Have you refresh the connection to update the table list?
@kevinmcloughlin59883 жыл бұрын
@@jiejenn so When I was doing your steps…I linked only one table…and ms access was updated with that table. And then I added a few more tables in ms SQL server DB but MS access is still showing only one table (the linked table)….how do I refresh the connection? Thanks

Why use SQL native 11.0 instead of ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server?
@jiejenn3 жыл бұрын
ODVC Driver is preferred if your application is gonna be on different OS systems. SQL native is Windows preferred and I'm on Windows.
