Hello Ed. I would like to ask for an updated video guide on Virt Manager with unRAID. I was not aware that Virt Manager existed (i am a Windows, not Linux user). I have been using unRAID for a couple of years now and find your tutorials extremely helpful. I think that many of us would benefit from an updated Virt Manager video. Please and Thank You!
@TechBytesRN3 жыл бұрын
Please consider doing an updated video. I have been trying for over a day to get this working with the current version of Unraid with no success. For those of us just starting, starting with a brand new Unraid server would be a good beginning.

Snapshots would indeed be interesting as well :) However thanks for this already, I didnt realize earlier that I actually very much need this. Days of manually editing the XML are over, hopefully!

This is great, thank. Would love to see a tutorial for snapshots as well. +1

at 5:55 I just realized that you did a "telnet/SSH"? It shows in the upper left corner that you are in UNRAID. HOWEVER, I have a windows system, so I was trying to go into terminal through Fedora. How do I telnet to Unraid?

Great video! Any reason I should use a full VM instead of a docker container via the Apps tab? Or was that container not availabe at the time?
@kenmorris28585 ай бұрын
On my Unraid ver 6.12.10 I downloaded the nerdtools from the APP store and it does not have nc-1.10x86 listed as available? What now? Also this video is 7 years old. Is there a more current version of this video?

Thanks great video tutorials and your channel is very informative. I don't mind the music but i think it is still a little loud compared to your voice.
@SpaceinvaderOne8 жыл бұрын
Yes, the music is definitely too loud in a lot of my videos especially the earlier ones. I hope the more recent ones are better with lower music levels. All this video making is new to me and hopefully they are slowly improving!!

This highlights how LT need to improve the web interface for VMs on Unraid.

How did you install the apps tab?

Thanks for this. How can clipboard sharing be configured?

Figured it out... 1) apt-get install spice-vdagent 2) in virt-manager, add a new hardware device, select channel, spicevmc / com.redhat.spice.0 3) start spice-vdagent

Hey there Spaceinvader, I have a question about connecting Virt Manager on a Fedora VM to my Unraid box. Do you have to specify in Virt Manager somewhere where the libvirt file lives on Unraid? When I try to connect Virt Manager to Unraid it fails and says that it was unable to connect to libvirt, in the details it's showing that it's trying to connect to it at 192.168.1.4/system but it's one directory deeper isnt it? (/system/libvirt).
@jaredschroeder64848 жыл бұрын
Figured out what the problem was (or I guess what worked for me) I had to comment out #listen_addr = "127.0.0.1" in /etc/libvirt/libvirtd.conf on my unraid server and it connected right away.

Thank for the followup reply, it started me in the right direction. I found the video where he covers the steps for this, it's in the virt manager on OSX video. Here's the link to the appropriate section of that vid. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4fPlGh9aLmtj6c

Please forgive the complete Linux noob comment - if I install fedora as a vm does virt-manager get installed by default or are there some commands you have to type to install it?

Do you have any experience setting up spice on unraid for vms ? I’d like to use it vs VNC so I can access client USB devices without using rdp.
@SpaceinvaderOne6 жыл бұрын
Hi. Jared. I use spice on fedora with my kvm vms but i haven't tried with unRAID as yet. But i will have a look at it and if i get it working make a video.
@jaredfrancais11366 жыл бұрын
Spaceinvader One that would be great, I look forward to it
@jaredfrancais11366 жыл бұрын
I was able to get it setup. With the newest unraid and this tutorial setting up Spice in virtual machine manager was fairly straightforward and works quite well.

@@SpaceinvaderOne Which VNC client are you using for the Mac?
@accendo19798 жыл бұрын
All good, found out, had no idea there was even such a feature lol. Everything is hidden away in the forum. They need a better platform so information is easily accessed. I can't stand forums. Here I was spending weeks getting a docker to work and this was out their this whole time. ahhhhhh

Having a issue with no mouse input in VM's have you seen this?
@SpaceinvaderOne8 жыл бұрын
No. Is this when you use virt manager or just generally. Send me a pm and we can try and find out why. Put your XML of a VM your not getting mouse input with aswell, please.
