Thank you!! I just got a new phone and could not figure out why my phone would not connect to the screen. Went to the dealership and they could not figure it out. Called Verizon and they sent me a new phone. Went through the whole set up process hoping it would work. Still didn't. Finally saw your video and figured it out. Simple, but Merc manuals suuucccckkkkkkk , ALL that just to connect , dam it should,nt be that complicated , but I think nowadays, there's too much to distract drivers., One thing I don,t like is in car screens are too too bright , it creates halo effect inside the cabin, ie in dark roads and or motorways , it's harder to see on roads , just like headlights are too too too too bright, I hate led headlights overly powerful , and I wish I did not blind other motorists it's not right, car makers have gone overboard on lighting, now drivers are blinding each other , there too bright, car makers are fully responsible for this

Very clear thanks - One Question, once phone is connected and AA is running on the car's screen can you still operate AA from your phone screen rather than use Mercedes controllers? I prefer to use my phone to type in destinations etc. Oh and why did Mercedes put the usb port in the middle console causing your phone cable to be lying all over the place???

Apple CarPlay / AA wasn’t a option until 2016, you will have to upgrade to aftermarket radio or get one of those CarPlay tablets that plug into your cigarette port

When you read on the internet what a nightmare having the Mercedes app on your phone is in terms of privacy. OMG even the littlest bit of homework it's downright scary what they're willing to give over of your information😢 so that made me wonder when we hook our phone up to the car just like in this video does that give Mercedes or anybody access to the phone files? Does that give them access the bookmarks in the favorite pages? Does that give them access to the photograph? Does that give them access to the text messages because they appear to show up on the screen though I've been too busy driving to pay any attention. So how much of my life am I giving away by being able to drive hands-free on the phone😂

My salesman and I are still having issue getting android auto to work with my pixel 2 xl running android P. When I plug my phone into the usb it says usb charging only under my notifications. What usb preference does the phone need to be set to? The options are file transfer, usb tethering, MIDI, PTP. There is also a second option that says USB controlled by. The two options are This Device and Connected Device.

Hi Juuso, if you do not see the icons or USB port anywhere, it is probably not equipped with Android Auto capabilities

Try disconnecting and reconnecting everything from start to finish. If that doesn't work, we'd recommend taking it into a local dealer so they can see in-person what the issue may be.
