I like the technique especially marking the interfacing ahead of time and not cutting the opening. I never saw when you sewed your regular stitch. I understood that u basted the neckband on. Did you remove the basting? Does the top stitching secure it? 0:15

Have you considered using a stretch or Jersey needle to eliminate skipped stitches?
@wrappedinthread733Ай бұрын
lol! I do have a needle that doesn’t skip but I was too in the zone sewing to remember to change it. I’m always real in my videos so maybe it will encourage someone that I get wonky stitches too 😁

I have made this pattern twice, and I think this is a great technique. I think I would hand baste rather than machine baste - I get a better result. My Grandmother insisted on hand basting when teaching me to sew. I am 70 now and I wish she could see my sewing.
@LoveNotionsАй бұрын
It's so special to carry on your grandmother's legacy of sewing! If hand basting works well for ya, keep doing it! ❤️ Thanks for watching! ~J

Fabulous thank you. I saw Noreen use the neckband pattern piece, but is that ok every time or do we have to measure, depending on fabric.
@LoveNotions25 күн бұрын
It's usually fine, but if you find your fabric is stretchier than required, you can shorten, or vice versa. 😊 ~J
@janekelsch2801Ай бұрын
I really appreciate this tutorial as I knew there must have been a better way to sew a placket and I’ve finally found it! I have two questions…Why don’t they show it this way in the tutorial, so we don’t have to seek out better ways? And what brand is that beautiful little iron you’re using?
@LoveNotionsАй бұрын
There's a lot of different ways to do things and Tami adds what she thinks is best and easiest to understand when writing the tutorial. Not sure about her iron, I'm sure Noreen will respond once she has a chance to read through comments. 😊 Thanks for watching! ❤️ ~J

I wonder if this would work with the Presto Tunic? I was struggling to create a perfect packet on mine.
@wrappedinthread733Ай бұрын
I tried it and it does with a bit of a modification! Because of the angle and the yoke you can’t keep the cf un cut BUT you can sew the yoke down each side and clip after sewing so you are clipping exactly where you’ve sewn to (instead of sewing to where you clipped) and you can still flip it under and sew across the bottom exactly like this. It worked perfectly!

Thanks! I wish i had known this before i sat down at the machine. @@wrappedinthread733

What kind of knit are you using?

I'm not sure of the exact type, I just know it was random knits from her stash. But I will ask her! ~J
@laurahovey391Ай бұрын
I found the explanation and tone to be lovely but (and maybe it’s my screen or eyes) with the patterned fabric, the match between the neckband and the bodice, and the white thread and white back of the fabric, I found it really hard to see what was going on. I would love to see this with a contrasting bodice and neckband and a thread color that stands out.
@LoveNotionsАй бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! We'll definitely keep that in mind for future videos! 😊 Glad it was still helpful for ya, thanks for watching! ~J

I love your videos, but have one request. It was difficult to see what you were explaining with the pattern of the fabric. Maybe use a solid fabric so we could see what you were showing a bit more clearly?
@LoveNotionsАй бұрын
That's a good suggestion, and one we try to consider when possible! Maybe we can get Noreen a fabric sponsor so she doesn't have to just use what's available from her stash (especially since she's sewing to wear, high contrast thread isn't always ideal for day to day.) She's doing the best she can with what she's got, we're so grateful she's able to share her sewing knowledge with us! ❤️ ~J
