Habits are hard to break even good ones. My normal habits: Never let water run down the drain while 'warming' it up for a shower. Catch it in a bucket/pretzel container. You can use that water for plants/garden or even filling up toilet tank. My uncle Chuck taught us this 60 years ago: Use two phases for shower. First turn around and get wet. Then TURN OFF water and then use soap on all your body. Third phase. Turn water back on and rinse. Then turn off for good. If you have a slow leaking faucet collect the drips into a plastic glass.

Clean water is just not important or a necessity where there is a problem of water but throughout the world, people who don't get water or who get water in abundance should know that clean water can easily turn into a luxury item if they waste it. Though people can still afford luxury but still the purification of water requires a lot of other resources which are again needed to be conserved so water needs to be saved wherever you live. Use different ways to conserve water. Use bucket instead of that shower. You really are helping people and the environment.

That seems like a slightly narrow view that lacks taking everything into account. Giulio D'Amore that is very true. However, it’s a hard sell to tell people to suddenly stop eating meat. It’s just not realistic, even if it would be nice. There have been pushes to market insects as a delicacy to replace animal meat, but the west is generally pretty resistant to that

If the term water conservation means available clean drinking water, then the industries which consume huge amounts of clean water while contributing large amounts of contamination back into the water supply need to change. While things like water saving shower heads and scraping plates before rinsing before they go into a dishwasher and using water reduction in consumption appliances, washing machines are good practices, if it's just us at the household level trying to be mindful, it's still only part of the whole picture.
@swrtsolutionsinc.10923 жыл бұрын
irrigation+rainfall = evaporation + transpiration + runoff + leaching Which one of these processes do Farmers really have control over during the growing season? If you have the ability to irrigate your sandy soils and water is cheap and plentiful, then you are fortunate and have some control on the left side of the equation. If you do not have irrigation, you must look at the factors on the right side of the equation to see what can be controlled or minimized to benefit your crop. Evaporation from the soil surface can be reduced with mulch or leaving crop residue on the soil surface. Transpiration is a function of the plant leaf surface area and the weather. Runoff is or should be minimal in sandy textured soils with high percolation rates. This leaves the leaching of water out of the root zone as the #1 controllable loss of moisture to your crop. Interrupting the downward movement of moisture in your soil by installing a "smart" barrier can greatly reduce the leaching of water and nutrients. SWRT subsurface membranes detain/retain up to 90% of irrigation or rainfall in the root zone for crop use by disrupting the gravitational movement of water in the soil while still allowing excess water to percolate and do not create anaerobic soil conditions.
