As a note, the ICW is generally being churned up with traffic. The boats wakes are high in DO2 and than disperse both horizonally and vertically. Fiah near the channel can be rejuvenated by being close the channel waters which are also colder than the flats in the Southern summer..therefore flats, bars and reefs near the ICW will be great locations....comments always appreciated....buck

I thought it was putting CO (carbon monoxide) into the waters, and thus depleting the DO2. Everytime I fish/sonar the channel I catch and spot nothing. Could be that I'm not fishing enough cover, but there's oyster beds grass and docks all within 500 ft of one another, all within 300 ft of the channel. All these places (heat of Florida summer) held zero fish. Could have been the fish didn't like the boat traffic. (Note, this is near a barge canal and cruise ship port, so maybe that has something to do with it).

@TheBoundlessNexus sir. It is likely motor noise that could be effecting the fish..also please release that the nominal concentration of CO is about 5 ppm versus O2 at a whooping 16 percent of Air. CO infusion appears to be de minimus relative to Oxygen...buck

@@centxprepper So the bubbles/etc from the prop wash are putting more D02 than CO, makes sense, and then it would be like you said just noise... I can vibe with that, I wouldn't want drag cars going through my home all hours of day or while I was trying to eat dinner 🤣, cheers mate appreciate the help and input 🤙

Satellite images are so difficult to tell water depth. How can you tell if water is deep enough for fish to be comfortable? Or, if you can get to it by boat? I know most of the water I fish. I look at it from satellite, and think, "There's no way."... It doesn't even look like a good place to fish, but I have good results. Looking at new satellite images for, "spots", I wonder if I could even get there. When I do get there, I wonder, "Why are there no fish?"..... Well?

I have the same question; I can’t tell what I’m really looking at on satellite imagery.

See if you can find topographic map online of the area you want and match it to the satellite imagery. I did that before I had a boat and electronics.

Also, rule of thumb.... dark is deeper, lighter is more shallow.

@@carolina_surf_fisher80 wouldn’t the topographic map just replace the need for google earth though?

Not all satellite images are taken at high tide, most are also taken in the winter. Navigational charts show the mean depths for areas, and high and low tide water depths. Those will be the most reliable way to get a sense of water depth.

Guess it’s good if you have a boat 😔

Yeah, that is a limitation of mobility for those who park and wade and hope the spot they’ve chosen has structure and bait. I know several places that fit this on the mid-Texas coast but have get out and to drive to another if the first place doesn’t pan out. I have considerably more options when I take the kayak but still not nearly the mobility I have when in a friend’s boat.

Yeah. Just because it looks good on the screen, doesn't mean it is. Getting there is half the battle.🤣 Finding out, you was at the wrong place at the wrong time. That's a waist of time.
