You could also grab their attention by making a nonverbal noise. Clap three times and expect the students to clap three times in response. It would be explained that when you need their attention you will perform a cadence and for them to repeat it back to you like you are in an echo canyon. Try slapping your thighs, stomping your feet or tapping your shoulders. You can vary the tempo too. They will need to listen to respond. “I think that my students who like music will be very good at this” you tell them.

First of all be a role model Second have a count of when kids don't speak in English and have a negative reinforcement once they reach a certain number like 10 or so Thirdly explain the kids the importance of English language... Once they know the why the how will be very clear :)
