A sincere and practical idea! Often, in kitchens, some floor cleaning chemicals don't work. Detergents on floors can make it slippery, so use with utmost care! The fragrances could also be in some part responsible for the deterrent. Sometimes, cement dust scattered from nearby constructions or repairs deposit in your garden and flower pots, choking the drainage. Dilute hydrochloric acid (also called toilet acid) put on the top surface of the soil will foam up and you will observe the original color of the soil which is mostly red. Pour water on the top soil and let it overflow as waste. Next water the plant two to three times and observe that there is now free drainage. This works but you should take full responsibility trying this out! Try a small test on a pot with no plant and see if anything will grow in it after giving it a rest.

Dr Suraj I followed your advice about changing the water (every 3 days) in the container in which I placed a sprig of coriander from a bunch I bought at the store. It is looking fresh and many new leaves after a month .. even tiny white flowers but sadly NO ROOTS! I did dip the roots in honey but there are no roots. I have seen flowers twice and cut them off. What is the next step? I would like it to grow like my mint which is in a pot and thriving. I have knock-out variety of roses which I am trying to propagate using air propagation.. I hope it works as all attempts to grow it from a cutting in a pot have failed.
