According to Microsoft, to convert a dynamic disk back to a basic disk you have to delete all volumes from the disk and permanently erase all the data on the disk. Thus, you have to back up these data before converting. But in this tutorial method, 3 can convert dynamic disk to basic disk without data loss.
Method 1. Convert dynamic disk with Disk Management (start from 00:00:57)
Method 2. Convert dynamic disk with CMD (start from 00:02:07)
Method 3. Convert dynamic disk without data loss-AOMEI Partition Assistant (start from 00:04:36)

We are very sorry that there is a mistake in the video, if you are converting a GPT dynamic disk to basic with Partition Assistant then it will cause data loss, but for an MBR disk, it will not. So if you are converting the GPT dynamic disk please backup your data in advance. And the feature "Convert Dynamic Disk to Basic" is only available in the Pro version.

Years later and method 3 still works wonderfully. Went ahead and bought it too because you guys saved me *so* much time correcting my mistake on my OS drive. Note for those wondering why they might want to convert a dynamic disk to a basic one: The MS dynamic disk function disables TRIM functionality of SSDs. That's a 'fun' gotcha that you wont notice until you're hours or days in to whatever project you're on.

what is TRIM? I just know Win10 converted this when I didn’t know what I was approving, so now I can’t extend my partition into the useless recovery img. space on my external, and can’t use cmd prompt to delete those partitions. I’m hoping some free trial will work at least

AOMEI Well, people who look at this video didn’t come here for that service! It May have taken me a few hours. I transferred the data from the dynamic drive to an old sata hdd, formatted the dynamic ssd, changed it to basic, transferred it back to the now basic ssd drive. Job done! Cost me nothing! Just 4-5 hours of data transfer. If you sold a basic version that achieved the process for like £5 I’d have purchased it to save myself 5 hours of transfers. Don’t advertise something and instruct “download here for free” then at the “commit” button declare a £50 charge. I hope no-one buys your products, completely overpriced!

First of all, if you want to convert a system disk, you are not suggested to convert a GPT system disk, because it will make your GPT become MBR and you may not be able to boot pc, besides we still suggest you backup your important files before you convert dynamic to basic

@@AOMEITech actually i got the problem sorted last night, for some reason plugging in my bootable drive and my Drive that needed partitions to be deleted to a computer that doesn't have a harddrive actually solved the problem. My only guess is that it's to do with the motherboard as my main pc has an msi board with an i7 3770 cpu whereas the other pc with spare parts has a dell motherboard and an old Pentium E6300.

If you use cmd you have to delete all your partitions, you can try AOMEI Partition Assistant to convert it back, use another computer to make a bootable device and boot your computer and use AOMEI Partition Assistant to convert.
