I followed your recipe because it was my first time making pulled pork. I'm from south carolina so messing up BBQ is a sin. It turned out AMAZING! I'm even picky with pulled pork. Sorry, but instead of KC we used sweet baby ray's sweet mustard sauce, as is tradition in SC. Thank you so much for the video!

There's a misconception of putting mustard on your pork butt just to make the seasoning stick or get a bark... Just using Olive oil will do the same thing. You can research top bbq chefs and restaurant owner's, they don't normally put mustard. Franklin BBQin Texas uses Olive oil. I do as well and it comes out perfect!

Just a word of caution, you're handling pork it is contaminated just like chicken. Cross contamination can be extremely dangerous. Before handling pork or chicken, consolidate your spices in a small bowl that way you're not cross contaminating your condiment jar and spice jar. just trying to help you so no one gets sick🤗

@robshell53678 жыл бұрын
I cook a 5 pounder on low for 9 hours, and after resting for 20 minutes still get an internal temp of 160 deg. 150 deg is considered safe. I don't know what low is temperature wise though. Buy a nice thermometer. If you want tender "Low and slow" is the key.

+Karen Merrow 1 cup Coca-Cola 1 cup ketchup 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon liquid smoke 1/4 cup A-1 steak sauce 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Combine ingredients in a saucepan and gradually bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes. Transfer the sauce to a clean measuring cup or jars and let cool to room temp. I usually add 1/4 cup of Jack Daniels for an extra kick! It's not a real thick sauce and it also goes good with ribs and chicken wings.

This is my first time trying pork in a crock pot. Your recipe seemed simple enough but your not clear in some respects. At the beginning of the video you said 9 hours on low. Then later you mentioned HIGH for 9 hours. Which is it? You also said you'll add some water but didn't say how much.
@johnf51222 жыл бұрын
I have the same questions. For water, other videos on the same show to add up to half height of the crock pot when the pork is already in it. I wouldn't think it matters much unless you have so much it boils over or so little it cooks out (dries away) For the time, I thought he maybe did it on low for some of the 9 hours, then maybe checked, did the rest on high. Not sure though.. if anyone can answer?
