Hi, you can put water just enough to cover the bird nest. Best to consume during empty stomach after wake up, or before sleep. And take a meal some time after that, not immediately. No specific food/drinks to avoid while taking bird's nest. Thank you.

Actually you shouldn't put the rock sugar in till it's almost done (in the last 10 to 15 mins of cooking time).
