Three days brining in red wine. Then place goose breast in slow cooker. Add a cup of red wine and chopped onions and celery along with your favorite spices. Slow cook for 6 hours. Then add a whole 28oz can of Italian Crushed Tomatoes and cook in high for two more hours. Serve over rice, egg noodles or mashed potatoes. It's absolutely delicious

What do you like better? The Dakota vest or the Fahrenheit vest?
@wingmen_eastmans4 жыл бұрын
Depends on how cold it is but the Fahrenheit gets the nod 95% of the time, really like that combo of puffy layer and windstopper.

Try the same slow cooker only add apple juice or apple cider. nothing else. I slow cook duck breast for 12 hours pull it apart like pulled pork and add BBQ sauce. makes fantastic sandwiches, just add a slice of cheese and 30 second nuke with cold meat and enjoy. this recipe is thanks to Chad Belding from Fowllife.

Sounds good! We'll try that next go around.

What do u recommend for a brine?
@wingmen_eastmans2 жыл бұрын
We keep our brines pretty simple... water, salt, aromatics(Thyme, Rosemary, etc.) Orange is wonderful with duck and goose.

I honestly don’t know how people can eat goose or duck. I have looked up many recipes that I thought sounded good. I have never had a piece of duck or goose that was even edible. They all have a nasty, bloody, extremely gamy flavor. I tried everything in the books to try and get the gamy flavor out. Nothing has worked. I love duck and goose hunting, but they taste disgusting. I know people will disagree with me, but I’m incredulous to believe that anyone will change my mind and convince me that they actually tastes good. Squirrel and turkey are my favorite.

We hear this a lot but we enjoy it immensely. Guessing from your favorites that you probably don't care much for deer or elk either? Check out Hi Mountain jerky and sausage kits for your waterfowl. Making sausage and or snackin' sticks is a good way to consume what you kill if you don't care much for its stand alone flavor. Our all time favorite recipe for duck is mimicking Gordon Ramsay's seared duck breast... leaving the skin on and cooking to medium rare like a good ribeye transforms duck from something ho hum to something most folks will fight over! kzbin.info/www/bejne/amLWn6mcetKki6c

duck should be seared in oil and butter till medium rare ONLY. Goose can be cooked a ton of ways, but it needs to marinate for a minimum of three days in a brine.
