My grandfather came from America Samoa and started a new life in Hawaii with my grandmother. He brought his traditions along with him. Taught his sons (my dad's the youngest) how to make an umu and how to cook certain dishes. My grandfather passed away before I was born and the traditions died with him in the family. I wish I knew how to speak the language and learn the traditions of my Samoan culture. I feel disconnected from the culture even though I am part Samoan. Watching this made me happy. Mahalo and fa'afetai!
