Many people with BPD struggle to feel a sense of self worth. In this episode, Xannie, Madhurima, Hack Ja, and Jack answer a question from our Patrons; "How do you sit with yourself when your brain tells you that you don't matter?".
Building on our conversation from Wednesday’s episode ( • The Hidden Pain of Lon... ), the bunch share their top tips for self soothing, the importance of affirmations, and how to build a better relationship with yourself.
This episode is not just for those struggling with BPD but also for friends and family who want to understand and support their loved ones better. If you’ve ever felt like you don’t matter or wrestled with feelings of loneliness, this conversation is for you!
Dec 11th we'll be back to answer the hotly debated questions; "Can BPD Go away?". Can't wait until then? Sign up for our "BPD Buddies" or "BPD Besties" tiers on Patreon to get early access to an exclusive extended cut of next week's episode NOW! / thebpdbunch

Can relate. Things I do to help myself: reading biographies/autobiographies of great people, watching inspiring stories of great personalities, affirmations, being part of a community like running group/yoga group, meeting people on a regular basis....

One of the greatest scientific minds of our time Professor Robert Sapolsky, a behaviourist and a neurobiologist from Stanford has come to the conclusion that every single human action can be broken down like an equation extrapolating it back to before we were even born. In what conditions was the foetus formed? What were the stress levels of the mother during her pregnancy? What genes were passed on to the baby? How did those genes respond to a particular environment? What was the geography, culture, socioeconomics etc. in which the child was raised? It just goes on and on and there are so many factors involved that lead us to how those neurons are fired that command our brains to ‘take an action’ or ‘make a choice’ in a situation. So when someone says ‘If I were you, I would have done things differently’ is utter nonsense. We all are born with different machines and mechanics inside us. Asking a person with BPD or any other personality disorder to ‘shape up’ for that matter is like asking someone to control a car with a loose steering wheel, dysfunctional brakes and (in worst case scenarios) no airbags. Not justifying bad or abusive behaviour here but if you come across a broken car, it is better to take it to a garage for repair instead of bashing it with a hammer and cursing it. Saying you’re not good enough is the same as the latter in my opinion. If there really is no free will and if everything is predetermined according to science, then blame, pride, punishment, meritocracy, entitlement are just myths. Its not really your credit. Nor is it your own fault. :) ‘What if?’ is the only reason why I am alive. lol. What if tomorrow AI figures out a way to fix our brains with a lobotomy? What if a new medicine is invented? What if life and work insurance (too far but dreaming is free right now) covers BPD? What if neuralink offers a huge discount for personality disorders in their package? Mamma used to say.. Life is lika box of chocolates. You never know watchu gonna eat.. 🙂‍↔️

Meditation is a great way to change your mind, to not buy into the garbage the mind comes up with.

@@noBodyuNope Thanks. lol. I get your concern about Elon but considering the weight of the suffering, I’ll take my chances. We live in a world where people sell bottled water and fresh air in purifiers. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start selling peace.

@@noBodyuNope unfortunately meditation hasn’t helped a lot in my case. I tried a lot but.. it seemed a bit pretentious to me. Especially here in India, we have a lot of spiritual gurus scamming people so I have grown averse to it. Maybe you can change my mind? :)
