Whats Up Everybody?
Welcome Back to another “HOW TO PROGRESSION SESSION, this video has been created due to a mass amount of requests from you guys, many riders do have great difficulties in being comfortable trusting their tyres and not knowing the all important aspect of cornering which is knowing your body position to hook in and corner fast.
I have done everything in my power to keep this simple and not going too tech or in depth and I genuinely believe we don’t need to, In this Tutorial I provide the absolute and most crucial essentials to corner like a Pro and the rest is completely up to you to get in, practice and apply everything.
I cant make you faster, thats your job, but I can give you the tools to get the job done.
I started this video close to 6 Months ago and have had trouble breaking it down into a viewable and relatable tutorial that I felt comfortable with, so I have kept coming back to the same location app 6 times to get all the filming needed, I could only chose sunny days and had to wear the same apparel each time but here it is, I hope you enjoy and more importantly I truly hope it helps you progress further.
# - DISCLAIMER - Whenever I do a “HOW TO” video it seems I feel I should always state that the points, instructions, skills and everything about this video is 100% all based on my 40years racing BMX & MTB’s and this is broken down utilising my way of riding, there is always many right ways to executing certain skills and in this video I will be explaining and showing my way and why it has been extremely successful for me.
Ive won multiple MTB Slalom and BMX National Championships and all demand extreme cornering abilities so please note that my strategies and skills explained are based on first hand experience.
# - ALL POINTS, INFORMATION, STRATEGIES AND ADVICE GIVEN IN THIS VIDEO IS ALL BASED ON RIDING BERMS AND NOT FLAT TURNS.
Flat turns do require some minor changes to the body positioning, line choice and pedal position.

Hey Folks welcome back, This one has taken many return visits to this spot to get enough footage that im happy with in order to provide the best breakdown on cornering and hopefully explained easily enough for you all to boost your turning confidence and increase your overall ability’s on the trail.. Enjoy and please comment below if you feel I missed something or more importantly if you feel you can and will benefit and progress from these 3x Key aspects. HAVE FUN AND RIDE ON CREW.

Thanks for the video and tips. I am having trouble with building confidence to carry speed into and through corners, both flat and berms.

Cheers Steve. Berms are always easier as you do have the transition on your side for gravity, flatter turns are harder and do require a shift in body and pedal position.. Once you work out how to rail berms nicely flatter turns will certainly become easier..

Nice vid. One of the few cornering vids on KZbin that recommends outside foot down in berms. This is how I was coached. Most vids suggest level pedals but I think you can keep your line better with outside foot down

Thanks Bob, yes I do believe it is faster and offers more stability and control.. Many MTBers dont utilise this as 'I THINK' you really only pick this up from a BMX race back ground.

Cheers mate, the key to maintaining exit speed all relies on your entry, stay wide and maintain a consistent line, lean in and trust your tyres.

Great advice there 👍 First time I threw my weight over the front of a dirt bike in berms and flat turns, made a huge difference. Same applies on MTB 💯%

Thanks Mick, yeah its certainly the biggest issue with riders. Tyres are designed to increase traction as the load or weight increases.. So easy to say, harder to apply..

@@FlowmentumMTB Absolutely, takes commitment. I'm still working on it with MTB. Occasionally my instinct tells me to throw a leg out, but I try to reserve that for sketchy moments 😄

Thank you for giving me the inspiration to get back on a bike big fella, and whenever I am feeling a bit lazy & un motivated I just watch some of your vids & I am ready to go again. No dirt at this stage, just a bitumen cowboy but can do pretty good wheelies ........

Hey Pat, I started this video 6 months ago, ive gone back 2 or 3 times adding and filling in gaps to finish this, 6 months ago stock wasnt as bad as now. I have in fact just gone to a set of VEE TYRE HPL & ATTACKS and loving the similarities to the Michis..

So that’s what I’ve been doing wrong….I don’t have Michelin Tyres😂😂😂😂. I did some berm practice on Monday at daisy hill, I went slow and steady and seemed to pull,it off. But as always these how to videos always give me food for thought on how I can not only improve but feel more confident to increase my speed on entry into berms.

Unfortunately there is none available until late January, unless you s ore big time in a shop that has some. It seems that Overall popularity of the Tyre and post COVID issues have made them extremely difficult to obtain.
