What I don't understand about this is that when I record a separate audio file, I'm choosing audio recording file specifications like bit-rate and sampling-rate....not frame rate. So I would generally record at 24-bit and 48Khz. Where does this "recording audio at 30fps" come from? What digital audio work station sets frame rates for audio like that?
@bensonarizona78202 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that bit was not quite right. The audio doesn't have a framerate (apart from the sample rate). For audio you can choose whatever you want. The drift only happens when the video file gets assigned a different frame rate in the project set-up than it was recorded in. The audio file has nothing to do with it. But he probably just mispoke. The gist of the video is still right.

An absolute nightmare is RIGHT!! It is driving me insane! But I cannot find help figuring out the best way to resolve this when I am working with 2 videos, not just audio. So in my case I am using my iphone to record my face, and my macbook pro's quicktime to record my screen. I have a Samson q9u usb mic connected to my mac so that audio is my main audio for my lessons. However, I need the audio to be in sync not only with my lip movement, but after I accomplish that which is painful enough, I need my lips (b-roll video from iphone) to match the actions I am performing on the screen. So far I cannot find a reasonable way to do this and this is the first time I experienced "drifting." I had the b-roll matcher perfectly to the a-roll then 6 minutes into it the drift starts to happen. Only thing I can think of is to remove the audio from my b-roll all together in one project, then bring that muted video back in with the a-roll screen recording and try to sync them ... I don't know. This is giving me such a headache. Any suggestions?
@CameraLessonsOnline Жыл бұрын
Yikes, that's a tough one. It seems the two videos are recording at different frame rates from each other (a common problem). They either need to be the same frame rate or (and this is a nightmare) you need to start splicing the second footage to continually match it with the main footage. I've done this for a large (4+ hour) project, and it's terrible. No easy outside of matching frame rates.
@TheDreamhouse2010 Жыл бұрын
@@CameraLessonsOnline Thanks for the response! Yes you are correct. I had to splice to death. Lol, exhausting. Got it done though.

How should I correct the audio drift issue when converting a video to 'WAV' and importing it into Logic Pro X? I recorded a performance simultaneously with Logic Pro X and a camera, but when I tried to sync the audio from Logic Pro X with the video, I noticed that the video's audio gradually drifted out of sync, even though they initially aligned.

so i'm still having trouble. i shoot on my gopro, and when i edit i make sure i'm at 29.97 fps. the sample rate of both the project and audio file are 48khz. no matter what i do, i always get drift. ALWAYS. it's the most continuous and frustrating thing about editing. i feel as if i'm following all the tips and doing everything correctly, but i constantly get drift. i don't know if it's because my project is too long with one continuous audio file, but nothing seems to be working, and i'm in dire need of help before i throw my computer across the room. thank you in advance.

How about footage on a dash cam? Its the same issue audio is not in sync with the video on a few files.
@CameraLessonsOnline4 жыл бұрын
If the microphone is recording separate then it'll be the same issue. In other words, that the frame rate of the video is different than the frame rate of the project. We would treat dash cams the same as camcorders in that sense.

I'm doing one of those virtual band vides and everyone recorded their videos on different devices/cameras, so I don't think this method will work for me, unfortunately. Can't seem to find a solution.
@CameraLessonsOnline4 жыл бұрын
You simply need all your devices to record the same frame rate. This is why so many videographers need to work with cameras within the same system, they will have the same selection of frame rates. You can shoot with a variety of gear (most cameras shooting 24 FPS actually shoot 23.98 as an example) in many circumstances. Research actual frame rates before using the gear and you can mix brands with reckless abandon. Thanks.

Thanks for the video I'm hoping this fixes my issue. My problem is drift. I'm using the Sony A7s to output audio/video to a camlink type usb device. However I'm also going into the Sony with a separate audio cable from my guitar. I'm not sure if the drift is happening because of that. Or because OBS is getting audio and video from a single USB. Or if it was just the 29.7 vs 30 thing. Do you have any experience with issues bringing in both audio/video into camlink? Would it be better to put my audio directly into a separate USB slot and audio interface instead of just directly in? Appreciate your help

What if you record in 25fps and still experience audio drift?
@CameraLessonsOnline4 жыл бұрын
Audio drift is a mismatch between the frame rate you actually record at and the rate of the project in your NLE. It can happen at 24 FPS or 30, it only requires a difference in the two rates. So, if you shoot 24 FPS you are likely actually recording 23.98 FPS and your NLE rate should reflect as such. Thanks.
