I CANNOT thank you enough!! I thought I had a mouse stuck in my suction side (I know, eeww), but after blowing the lines. I still had low pressure. The pump "sounded" not quite right and pressure inthe sand filter relief valve was limp. I could NOT figure it out. With pliers and a coat hanger (aka: Pool mechanic's best tool) I fished a hunk of grass from the impeller. Bang! Pressure was back, heater no longer errors "Lo" and it kicked on. You seriously saved me about $400. I am subscribed to INYO pools now. Ty, ty, ty!!!

I tried for a year to get my pressure fixed. I had lots of things going on and I fixed the clogs in the line. I fixed the changes in diameter in the pipes by buying another filter cartridge, and I bought a new variable pump. The next year, I changed the filter and all of a sudden, my issue was fixed!!! The filters with a few holes didn't let enough water through and it got backed up and worked against itself. The new filter I just put in is a different brand and it had more holes and let more water through. The new one was a Pleatco. Suddenly, all my issues were gone. I could move the water in my pool, I could reset the pool for lower pump settings with great results without overworking the pump. I read about the construction and design of the filter, but I didn't want it to get "flimsy" so I used the manufacture's product that came with the unit that was installed last year. I am so happy!!!! The pool now pushes water through my sanitizer, doesn't make as much noise, the day feature really moves the water to clean it and because I have a fountain and ozone and UV lights, the sanitizer needs to run all the time but it is super cool and good. Another thing, I still have to sweep the sides of my pool. but this time, I made it more efficient by putting my pressure washer on a long handle and gently cleaning the sides of the pool and the bottom. Wow. My pool sparkles and I only have to clean it once per month or after the rain. (Which brings the algae from the swamp air in Florida.)

Thank you very much for this video! The problem with my pool was a clogged impeller. Opened the pump, cleaned it up, and it’s pumping very nicely now!!! Thanks!!!

This fixed our issue. From your advice, I got a coat hanger and went to town on our pump impeller. There were lots and lots of small tree nuts stuck in there from the Bradford Pear trees that hang over our pool. Now our pumps operating at 100%!

I have a 18' above ground pool with a 1.5 HP pump when I first opened my pool this summer the PSI was 9 and now its dropped to less than 3. What would you suggest I do first to try to resolve this issue?
@Inyopools2 жыл бұрын
It could be a clogged pump impeller or partially clogged line. It could also be a suction side air leak. If it's an air leak, you'd see bubbles coming out of the return jets or air in the pump strainer. The most likely cause of an air leak would be a bad pump lid o-ring. If neither of those are the issue, it could be a bad pressure gauge.
@rachelhunt43592 жыл бұрын
@@Inyopools I don’t have bubbles coming out so I think it’s a partially clogged line. I have a gravity fed pump with a shutoff right under the skimmer. I figure I will use the shutoff and remove the pipes that go to the pump and clean them out, this didn’t start happening till after a bad storm so I think there might be a clog of leaves or something, but if I don’t find a clog I will test the gauge and if that’s not the issue can you suggest what else to check? Also I am using filter balls instead of sand could that cause this issue?

I'm new to pools, we bought our first pool home in January 2020. We installed the Hayward 400 BTU unit this past Friday. The pool filter/pump and solar system runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. I checked the Hayward around 6:00 pm and saw the LO light. Based on this, I'm assuming my heater is fine as my pool pump/solar system shuts down at 4:00 pm, therefore, no water flowing, therefore no need to heat. Thanks in advance . All new equipment including the pool pump
@Inyopools4 жыл бұрын
Hello Eleanor - It would be normal to see the LO error code if the pump is not running but the heater still has power. Your heater must be wired to the "line" side of the circuit, which means it has power all of the time. Ideally, it would be on the "load" side so the timer can have it on the same schedule as the other equipment.

My water pressure in my heater became low because my water features took away pressure. I turned them off, but the water heater still says low pressure. Is there a waiting period to build pressure back up?

Great video, I recently replaced the filter grids on my filter. The issue i have now is low or no pressure at all. The only time i regain the pressure back is when i perform a back wash. Im lost, should i inspect the filter grids for excessive debris?

Hello Juan - We'd be glad to assist you. What is the filter PSI reading when the filter is clean? What is the PSI reading when the water pressure is low? How soon after you backwash does the pressure decrease? Is the pool green or cloudy?

My pool jets run strong for about 20 minutes and pressure shows 15 psi, then after 20 minutes psi reads 25 and jets are slow... then if I shut off and wait about an hour and turn back on it will run strong but repeat any ideas

Hello thanks for the video. I'm trying to bring to live my pool that hasn't been sued for a while. I have a pump that works and it will take water from the skimmer hole but not the main drainage hole on bottom of the pool. I tried to put a hose with water flow in the pipe by that brings the water from the pool to push it in reverse and seen that it came out both from skimmer and drain hole so it is not clogged (at least not fully clogged and water can pass). Any idea what I can do to fix this?
@RN-hx1rs7 жыл бұрын
You don't need a main drain. Buy a pool cleaner like a Hayward Navigator.
@HealthyEnergetics6 жыл бұрын
i bought a ten dollar part that looks like a few inches of hose but it blows up like a balloon and stops the water flow from the pipe while making pressure for the flow to go out along the pipe. That is all I needed to get the snag opened. You might want to try that. We also tried a 25 ft hand drain cleaner but if you hit a corner you might drill through the side of the pipe. Call someone to do it isn't expensive.

I have low pressure indication at the filter and De is punpped back into the pool when pool is turned on. I could not find any issue with my filter grids or manifold. Is there possibility that a bad pump can cause clouding water ?
@Inyopools6 жыл бұрын
A bad pump will not cause DE to be pumped back into the pool. The only way would be from a cracked manifold or tears in the grids.

my 18' above ground pump works ok until I install the hose for the vacuum in the skimmer then the pressure drops right down to almost nothing. Any input would be helpfull. I always push water through the hose at the return in the pool until all the air is out of the vacuum hose

Hello Michael - Check out our Poolside Chat titled "Why is my pump losing prime when I vacuum my pool". It covers several reasons why the pressure could drop. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmnPg4yEZ9aoZqM

I just had a heater put in and noticed that the water pressure to the return jets drops after 10-20 mins of use. The pressure gauge on the filter has not changed, just the pressure to the jets. Does this mean I need a larger pump to accommodate the additional distance the water is traveling to reach the heater?
@Inyopools6 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, it's possible that the addition of your heater will require a higher flow rate. What is your pump model and horsepower? Also, what kind of filter do you have?
@frank_11266 жыл бұрын
Pump is a speck e90-u 1.5 hp 60hz 3450 rpm. Sand filter. Pool is small.. maybe 6000-7500 gallons 12x24 feet. 2 return jets plus water flow to slide.
@Inyopools6 жыл бұрын
Frank, I would try setting your sand multiport valve to recirculate which will bypass the filter media. If you still see the decreased water pressure then we know it's definitely not the filter. When the heater was plumbed in did they include a valve to bypass the heater? If so, try bypassing the heater along with keeping the filter setting in recirculate mode. If you still have decreased pressure, you'll know that something else is going on. If your pressure bounces back, then you'll most likely need a more powerful pump.

As soon as I put my filter on the pressure is great. About 20 minutes into it being on it loses pressure. Can anyone help? Lines are cleared. I sprayed down filter and added DE.
@Inyopools6 жыл бұрын
When you say the system loses pressure, do you mean that the pressure drops on the filter gauge or the water pressure from the return jets drop?

Inyo Pools I’m having the same problem. Just took apart filter and cleaned it in the last 24 hours, added de (a lb per sq ft) and have a cloudy pool with no pressure from the jets or suction in the skimmer after cpl hours. Recirculating the pump pushes water just fine thru the jets. My question is it normal to tear down filter and clean every often and should I de it everytime I do? Or is there a way around this?

it varies but try to remember that a baseline pressure reading of 10 psi can be fine - or 20 psi can be fine - it really depends on dozens of factors - it's real use is to just get a quick reading on a safe range - So when the filters were new, and plumbing was perfect, what did it read ? and go from there - not to mention weather changes and atmospheric pressure changes that can tell you the pressure is wrong, but really it's fine - so grain of "salt" when judging baseline pressure - Cheers now mate -
