Yes, that's true! In Japanese, the number 4 (四) can be pronounced as "shi," which sounds like the word for death (死 - "shi"), making it considered unlucky, much like in Chinese culture. Similarly, the number 9 (九 - "ku") is also considered unlucky because it sounds like the word for suffering or pain (苦 - "ku"). Due to this superstition, many hotels and apartment buildings in Japan avoid using the room number 4 and 9.

To the beginners learners, don t blame japanese people with the counters that s not their fault if they have that. All these counters comes from China, so don t say "Why japanese people ?" but Why Chinese people? instead😊
