Excellent video. I'm a Dylan fan but lately I've been on a Emily Lou Harris kick. While listening to her greatest hits, the desire to 2 step comes to mind. So thanks to your excellent instructions I can built on these basic moves. Many thanks!

I just went to line dancing last night and to be honest I didn't really want to go but I have to say I had a blast. Now my girl friend and I are having a blast learning how to do the two step. thank you so much for posting this video =).

Very easy to follow, What i like about this instruction is you can still count the QQSS but do the moves without moving far, a little like a swing dance if you like. Great for in a crowded bar or small dance floor, Good Vid,

Yes this is Texas Two Step and is also called Two Step. In older style Texas Two Step the feet do not cover as much floor being the the feet come together instead of passing each other. Also some older styles have the man's right are on top and there is not much spinning. The Texas Two Step as variations depending on the area. But what you see is definitely the most common and is the way the Worlds Country International competition Texas Two Step is danced.

It's easy for the woman if she knows the basic step count of quick, quick, slow, slow. The turns are harder for the guy, though, if he's never done it before. I'm in the process of teaching my husband - he's been the drummer in the country band I've been dancing to for many years and we want to dance together.

GREAT teaching technique... Thank you SO much for the ease in which you just taught my husband how to two-step!! And to the folks reading the comment by the imbecilic teenager, please try and refrain from giving that toddler attention. We all know what his problem is...!

I'm a bit puzzled by the inside turn. As explained the turn prepares on slow, slow and turns on quick, quick. This is also demonstrated with counts. In the next demonstration with counts, nothing happens on slow, slow, the turn is instead initiated on quick, quick and then completed on slow slow. Both seems to work but the second variant seems to be incorrect relative to the previous explanation.

I have a question. I live in NY state and know this Two Step. In Arizona, however, the younger generation don't do it the same way. Instead of "quick, quick, slow, slow" they do "quick, quick, slow, quick, quick, slow". Any idea where they lost the other "slow"? I had a hard time dancing with my son in Tucson, even though I taught him the RIGHT way to do it before he moved there! (I did see some older dancers, a bit older than I am, doing it the right way in Tucson.)

Not a step together their feet need to pass on every step... the lady turns on the slows and comes out on the quicks.. and the beginning lady going to do a quarter-turn which is a side together... but needs to do a pivot turn which is a half a turn!

@noobtuberboy Ummmmm, this two step existed before that crap. You don't truly dance with someone doing that. That would be self glorified dancing. Performance dancing more appropriately.
