Julie, you are EXCELLENT at teaching by showing us all step-by-step how to do something. This was a great video, and something I've wondering for a long time how to do! THANK YOU!

Hi! I am so glad you like the videos! I can add your request to our video request list, we try to get to as many of them as we can, but unfortunately can not promise that we will be able to. I think I understand what you are trying to do and you should be able to literally stitch you beaded cabochon onto the ultra suede - just make sure that your stitches are small and discreet.

Great question. In the video I was just showing two different types of edges and it was easier to not stop, tie off my thread, and start a new one - therefore I just continued with the picot right after the basic. Normally however, you would start with just two beads. Here is a complete video just on making the picot edge: "How to Bead Embroider a Picot Edge"

This is excellent. I've been doing freeform and sculptural beadwork for many years and have always been intimidated by trying to glue suede onto metal cuffs for fear that it would end up looking awful and crooked. This is SO EASY! I am a metalsmith and make my own cuffs so this tutorial is perfect. Your instructions are super clear and easy to follow. Thank you for making this available.

A couple factors come into play with a project such as this. If the cabochon is extremely large, then no matter how many rows of beading you do around it, it will still not lay flat - the flat back surface is just too large. In general though, for a regular size cabochon (relative to the size of the cuff), the more rows of beading you do around the cabochon, the easier it will be to get it to lay flat. That beading is flexible and can curve around the cuff when glued.
@beadaholique12 жыл бұрын
The beads are sewn onto the suede and is demonstrated at about 8 minutes 37 seconds (8:37) into the video.

You might want to put a rubber band around it while it is drying to keep the curve in place.

When stitching your focal bead in center you could add beads to the thread that tacks down focal...just an idea.

You can cut both layers at once but I found that my scissors tend to slip a little when cutting through two layers of ultra-suede. Cutting one layer at a time afforded me a cleaner cut.

Hi Julie, I was wondering if you could do a video on how to attach an already beaded cabochon to the Ultra Suede. I've seen cuff where they just have the focal cab beaded and the rest of the cuff is just the Ultra Suede. I hope you can understand what I an talking about. lol. Thanks and I love all your videos.

As I have spoilt my first cuff with a drop of glue, which was never to be removed any more, I decided to fix the upper part with a double side tape to the brass. That keeps it in shape until the stitches are done. At the end evrything is fine as yours :-)

I have a piece of leather that I have attached a round cabochon with beaded edge. When I place the leather on the brass cuff the cabochon does not lay flat. How do you get yours to lay flat? Does it have to do with the number of rows of beading around the cabochon or will it lay flat once glued?

Hi Julie, thanks for this tutorial. I used this technique and it turned out GREAT! You're a good instructor via video. I have been perusing different Native American styles of beaded bracelets and I have found some without any edges pieced together. I have searched every where to find out how they do this but to no avail. Can you advise or show how this technique is done? Thanks Much..GMM

Love this. I want to cover the whole cuff with a seed bead design I made. I can't find and tutorials anywhere to show me how to do that. I don't know if I can stitch the bracelet on that I've already made or if I have to stitch each seed bead individually onto the suede that going to glue to the cuff. Any advise?

Hi Julie, great instructions as always 👍 I LUV your tutorials! I have a project/video request that maybe u could add to your tutorial list. I've been wanting to learn how to attach a peyote Bracelet to a metal cuff. I was reading through the other comments/questions to see if I could find any help.. So I'm curious, do you have to sew your peyote bracelet to ultra suede or do you glue the bracelet to the cuff? Any tips would be GREATLY GREATLY APPRECIATE ☺ Thx a Bunch for sharing your Amazing knowledge & talent with the world! Your the Best~xx
@beadaholique8 жыл бұрын
+rebeccajns Great video idea and thanks for the positive feedback! If you are okay with the metal of the cuff showing, you can most likely glue your beading right onto the cuff using E6000 glue. I think there is also a way (with a lot of patience) to stitch the peyote onto ultra suede and the attach that "top" piece of ultra suede to a back piece and sandwich the cuff in between. You would then do a little edging beadwork to finish off the design. I will add both of these techniques to our video request list. Thanks for the ideas!

Very pretty! I want to get some of these brass cuffs! This gives me lots of good ideas! I have some real deerskin to use. I've always wondered what the glue is that people use. That one you use looks like it really holds well and I like the fact that it doesn't bleed through the fabric.

Hi, great video. The brown one that you sewed a centerpiece on, were you finishing edges with beads or is there a different technique. I have many metal cuffs to use up and will look at the suede to order. Your video is so precise and helpful. Thanks
@beadaholique4 жыл бұрын
It's been awhile since we made these pieces but I believe we did finish the edges with beads on that one too. You can get a variety of different looks with beaded edges but they all typically follow the same basic technique.

I was wondering ..could you attach a flat backed stone to this metal cuff bracelet? Or do you have a better suggestion for making stone bracelets ? Any help would be appreciated.
@beadaholique10 жыл бұрын
You could attach a flat back stone to the metal cuff. I would suggest using E6000 glue if it does not have holes for you to stitch it in place. One thing to note though, is if if the stone is quite large, it might stick out and look strange against the bend in the bracelet - you would only want to use smaller stones.

Thank you for the tutorial. This looks lovely. Is there a material that I can use to wrap the bangle other than suede? I thought about felt, but I don't think it would hold up very well. I cant stand the feel of suede on my skin. Thanks. 🙂
@beadaholique5 жыл бұрын
Yes, felt might be hard, I worry about it ripping with all those stitches. You can use any heavy duty material. You could try leather (although you would need a stronger needle, and possibly larger beads), or any other thick fabric. The technique should be the same.

Very interesting! I would like to put a loom beaded bracelet on it. Does anybody know if I have to sew it to the suede and then glue it to the brass, or I have to glue it on the suede? Thank you!
@beadaholique10 жыл бұрын
If your bracelet is done on a traditional loom and you have all the tails still attached, you will want to finish the bracelet first by sewing it to the ultra-suede and then you can glue that piece to the loom. If you glue the piece to the ultra-suede instead of sewing it, it might dry too stiffly to curve around the cuff.

How can I attach a peyote pattern already beaded to a plain metal cuff bracelet?
@beadaholique10 жыл бұрын
Renee Steele You can carefully use some E6000 glue. You will want to use a toothpick or small piece of wire as an applicator and spread about an inch of glue on the metal cuff. Lay your peyote into the glue and then carefully spread another inch. Just be careful that it is not too thick as this would cause it to seep up through the beadwork. You only want to do an inch at a time because of fast E6000 glues when it is spread so thin. www.beadaholique.com/c-61288-adhesives.aspx?KZbin&

What if i wanted to bead rhinestones? Would that be possible? i am new at this therefore i want to purchase the correct item to complete my project!! Great Job! It has been a lot since shopping on your site!!
@beadaholique9 жыл бұрын
+supernatural child of God Rhinestones traditionally do not have a hole, which means in order to bead them you need to either place them in a setting or create a setting for them. This is possible with larger rhinestones but much more difficult with smaller ones. You could also cut up rhinestone cup chain and then the stones will already be in settings which you can then bead. I will record a video showing how to cut apart rhinestone cup chain so that you have individual set rhinestones to bead. Thanks for the question!
